Some basic rules of football for Saints management & players to think about: 1) When the opposition is playing **** and giving you goals, then simply allow them to continue & don't drop your performance to match theirs. 2) Conceding a throw-in or a freekick is much much much much much much much much much much better than conceding a goal. 3) Man-the-****-up.
Some good news though, one that I know will delight you all. When Spurs got their first goal, for the first time ever, I made a bet against Saints and put £10 on at 33/1 that Spurs would win 3-2. I should really use my years of experience of Saints games to bet against them more often. I didn't even feel "dirty" doing it.
Premier League and you royally ****ed it up. Sad that the only joy in football terms that you lot get, is from our team, full of international players, losing a Premier League game, when you travel to Rochdale on Tuesday night, who are 21 places above you in the league. That's ****ing it up. (yes, I took the bait)
Yup. Agreed with these. Unfortunately Dejan had the game Dan always feared, but one of those is forgiveable (though I don't think he's got back to his game since the injury). I'm a bit annoyed by today, but okay with it really - as someone said earlier it just reconfirmed all the points we already know, that we need to address in the summer.
I think basic defending can be addressed at anytime... all the time. Don't neccesarily need new players to do it, just knock the bloody ball into touch when near your corner flag. Lovren should be dropped for the next game. If that had been Hoovield today, he'd have been slaughtered by Saints fans all week long.
Cork had a decent game. I don't think Wanyama would have made a difference. IMO Schneiderlin was the missing piece in DM. I don't think Lovren was that bad. He definitely wasn't great, but to me it was just a normal not-so-sharp game, perhaps due to injury. I have no idea how the first goal had anything to do with Lovren when it was clearly Clyne's fault. It was weak cross to no one that fell right to his foot. He missed an elementary trap and it slid underneath his foot. The second goal Lovren reached the ball first, but not so much ahead of the defender that he had time to brace himself. His momentum was carrying him forward and a well-timed push that looked rather obvious knocked him off the ball. The third goal Lovren could have headed a bit better, but that happens. It was a great finish more than it was a bad clearance. Tottenham is a good team and played well. Their fans might be a little disappointed as they are capable of better but still Tottenham at 80% is still much better than Norwich at 100%. It's not like Saints totally dominated the game; our goals came on two blunders.
Lovren had one of those games which got him sidelined at his previous club. At the beginning of the season we wondered why because he was so good for us. He needs to do a little bit of refocussing.
You guys have had plenty of opportunities to gloat recenty, so I'm making the most of this opportunity while it presents itself!
You lost at home to York and fell within one place of the relegation zone in League Two, while we narrowly lost away to a team 5th in the Prem. Is that really an opportunity to gloat?
I had a fiver on Shaw to score at any time at 40-1. I was screaming at the TV when he so nearly did in the first half....
