Its fathers day, its Sunday and Iâm in peacefull happy mood so any name calling or clever remarks will be complely ignored by me, debate and give strong opinions, yes, get personal and abuse and you will be talking to yourself. Good, now thatâs out I have to admit that I have gone astray of late, let who the mags are buying get to me, let the transfer lull affect me and I have forgotten one important thing that I truly believe, Quinn wants the same as I do, a successful Sunderland. I find myself weary of hearing the Bent theories regurgitated, his relationship with Brucies daughter and the rest. IMO its a lot simpler than all that, on Sunday I spoke to him and wished him well against the skunks, 24 hours later he was sitting in a Birmingham hotel room. I miss his goals and reliability, I donât miss him. The Henderson saga again has me weary, the loud voices on these boards and in the SoL all shouted the same, week in, week out, drop him Bruce he is rubbish. Now I know that rubbish he certainly is not but I also suspect that neither is he anything like a 20mil pound player, well done Niall for getting us a cracking deal. That brings us to now, the transfer window, who we will bring in, who we will miss out on, the only thing I can say as fact is that none of us know and we wont until the window closes so rather than tell Quinn he is an idiot for not buying the right players and bringing in dross when we donât have a clue, its time to trust the big man and judge later. I know this is a big window and I know next season is major, I have a feeling that Short, Quinn and Bruce also know. I also know one more fact, good bad or indifferent I will be in my usual seat for the first game and every other game. Some will tell me Iâm a fool, an idiot who just accepts what is served, a bury his head in the sand numpty who deserves all he gets, Iâm in very good company. Thousands upon thousands of people just like me will moan and groan, shout how pissed off we are, tell the chairman and manager they donât know what they are doing, then turn up and support their team, we cant help ourselves. I spent years being an angry young man, fought the good cause, defended the weak, had my say and was proud of being the last man standing, its tiring. I have had a bit of that angry young man in my blood over the past few weeks, worn me out, put me in bad moods, allowed me to have minor fall outs with fellow fans and stopped my enjoyment of these boards. All that and what did it change, **** all. So my friends my glass is refilled, glasses cleaned and positive head back on, I will let other fight the good fight but for me its back to having some fun, a laugh and understanding that telling my fellow fans that they are twats on a football forum in cyber land does nothing to make the world a better place but can easily make me look a little silly. Enjoy your Sunday.
True fan and supporter. Fan = fanatical about our club supporter = week in and week out - jut for the sheer hell of it
Well put Syd;it's far too early to be agitated about who we should/shouldnt buy.I'm not one of those who think that Ellis,Niall and Steve haven't a clue but neither do I think that they're infallible-lets wait a while before we get too agitated. Have just come back from seeing my wife in hospital and that focuses the mind-after asking if I was alright she asked what the rumours were-perhaps to relax me. KTF and her's to a good season
What strikes me Syd is that all the poor players we've been linked with, there's been no movement, paper bollocks? I'll admit to a bit of panic in the last few days, but what i don't see is anyone around us, the teams we are hoping to compete with, getting any stronger. The Toon have been the big movers, in our mid-table segment, and they have bought 3 very decent players, but on the flip they have lost a player, and may lose another in Barton, which epitomised everything that made them such a surprise package last season, so who knows which way things will go. Villa, when Young goes, will have a huge hole that they simply cannot fill, Everton haven't done anything, and Fellaini is talkig about wanting to play champions league, a lot of Arteta to Atletico talk over here. We need to make a move, seems Larsson will be first through the door sometime this week, and we are (almost) unanimous that he is a good signing. We all saw Jordan fail to influence games last season, well Larsson can have a quiet game, and still create because his delivery is an absolute weapon, don't forget that Seb is also still relatively young at 26. Contrary to a lot of people's opinions, i think Darron Gibson may be an astute buy, i was non-plussed initially, but his attitude in saying 'i want to play football', when United clearly would keep him as a squad player, impresses me. Gardner? Be another good one, we don't need him, but he'd give some drive, graft and guts in the middle, a good player. With Marveaux going to the Toon, we may well get another chance at N'Zog, and although i have never been swinging from the lamposts about him, it's no reflection on his ability, he's a cracking wee player, creative, goals, and a midfield of him, Seb, Sessegnon and Colback/Catts, looks very good to me. We need a commanding centre back, we need maybe 3 strikers, but for all that we worry about the lack of action, when you look around the league, it's almost par for the course. We'll be alright, maybe even better than that
Syd, I'm due to be back in the UK for the first few games, the 'derby' looks unlikely for me due to a sell out. I would hope our club will not replace the old seats until this game is out the way. Hoping to get a ticket for the L'pool match all being well, just to see a couple of games would be ideal. Envy all those who can actually get to the games whether it's Sat, Sun or a Monday.
Think i'm gonna be in for a real shock as the season gets up and running and i'm not there every week, it's gonna be a time when i miss the lads, miss the pies, miss that tingle of excitement as i walk across form the Tavern, that almost a footballer feeling of walking through access 11 and seeing the pitch, it's almost as beautiful as walking towards a beautiful beach. Gonna be an interesting time (flight is booked for the derby already, August prices= arse rape!)
