If Vic is still out then we've got to stick with JWP in central midfield, he will end up here eventually and this is all good experience. He has only really played in this role for the England u21s against sides which back off and allow him plenty of time. I think he enjoyed playing centrally as it allowed him the opportunity to show off his passing range. He always offers a passing option, but it's his ability off the ball which is going to have to improve.
If you're going to play youngsters then you have to accept that they will make mistakes along the way

Spurs really struggled against pace and much as we all love Rickie that's what he hasn't got. Sam to start for me.

You may be Correct. I was thinking bring Gallagher on at 60m, especially effective against tired legs. Rickie was great when he came on, he deserves to start.

Tottenham and then Newcastle as the next 2 games will really show us what level we are at with Poch and the boys.
If we did manage 2 wins, we'd be so confident of finishing - what, top 6? - in the last few games which include Everton and ManU.
If we only beat Newcastle that should still see us consolidating 8th place, which would be an amazing result in itself.
Amazing to think that the thought of playing for England in the world cup could actually boost some of our players' performances...

If Big Victor still isn't fit then I would start with the same team as Saturday and go for them as Spurs appear to have gone off the boil...come on three points up for grabs!

Dunno about going off the boil. They struggled against Benfica, but they played very well against Arsenal, and were unlucky not to at least get a draw. This won't be an easy game.
