Some lad playing at Folkstone Invicta is interesting Steve Bruce and a few other PL clubs. Already got 20 goals this season. Worth a go I guess.

have been linked with a move to sign teenage Folkestone Invicta striker Johan Ter Horst.

Ter Horst has already broken the 20-goal barrier in his first full season in senior football, having scored the winner in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Kent rivals Faversham.

Whilst the 18-year-old is only plying his trade in the Ryman Division One South League, two steps below North Ferriby on the football pyramid, his goal-scoring has attracted the interest of several Premier League sides, including Stoke, Swansea and Aston Villa.

He has already played for Charlton’s development side on trial and may now be heading for the Tigers’ development squad, managed by Stephen Clemence.

Invicta boss Neil Cugley has admitted that Ter Horst may be near to leaving Folkestone for a shot at the big time.

"I hope he does get his chance fairly soon because he’s only 18 and he wants to tell the world but nothing’s happening until everything’s done,” said Cugley, ahead of his side’s trip to Eastbourne Town tonight.

"I hope it all comes off because it seems like it’s been going on for a while, dragging on in some ways.

"It’s not right (for me) to say it’s this club or that club. I’ve been in football a long time and know things can change quickly.

"At the moment, Johan’s still a Folkestone player and he’ll still be with us on Wednesday. If he plays well for Folkestone, it helps him and it helps me.

"It’s how he performs for us, that’s what they’re coming down to look at."

On a similar note Harry Cardwell has just scored again for Reading under-18s. We got £75,000 for him but that may be nothing if he keeps improving. We need to improve our academy status soon.

What's the point int his development squad, we get these so called promising youngsters, they play in a ****e reserve league, don't go on loan, and never do anything.

At 18 he should be pushing towards making first team appearances, whether off the bench here or out on loan in league one or les championship.

febbos.
that makes him english surly??? but can play for the netherlands if he so wishes i think.

Well, I haven't said anything else, but yes, I would presume so :)

I guess it depends on if he was raised in England (presume so) or not, whether he feels English/Dutch.

Decent shirt. I wonder if they make one his size?

Just rooting around and it seems his brother's a Charlton fan, and they seemed to know a bit more about him. They followed him through a few of his games and he was getting very good reviews.

Love stories like this. Im guessing he will be very cheap and is surely worth giving him a deal to see what he can do.

Good stuff, signed on a 3 year deal. Lets see if he can continue his goal scoring record for the reserves next season.. then who knows!!
