Very effective union leader who achieved things for his members. And there are not many of them about anymore.

The bulk of this country are so depoliticised and just adopt the drip-fed attitude of ‘unions are bad’ by default.
Similar to ‘all politicians are the same so I don’t vote’ – an easy attitude which means you don’t have to think.

Hardly any would be able to list the benefits that unions won in the 19th and 20th Century for workers and couldn’t even begin to imagine what working life would have been without them.

So ignore what the unions did in the 70s and 80s, and directly affected a lot of us, but remember what they were in the 19th and early 20th centuries because they weren't evil and self serving then? Um k.
A long time ago, they were needed, and did the masses a massive favour, over time, that changed, a lot. The rank and file of modern unions still do a good job. Self serving egotists who have their snouts in the same troughs they claim the management enjoy do no one any good. Except themselves of course. Yes, I'm including Crow in that.
Had Leon posted rubbishing Crow, no doubt you would have come on fussily contradicting his negative sentiments.

Have any of the people posting on here previously priggishly told the mods to move threads because they were political? Or is it only posts that are complimentary to someone on the right and critical of those on the left that should be moved? Strictly speaking none are allowed, but it's a wavy line. I wouldn't describe myself as political, never mind left or right.
Given the OP, I'm watching to see how this pans out,but I don't hold much hope of it staying open.
Just like in any walk of life there have been some good men in trade union politics and those in it for themselves.
But we should all be grateful for the power of organised labour as it was that movement in the 19th century that saw the working week
reduced from 6 days to 5 and a half and then eventually 5 days.

I think Unions have their place although they can sometimes be very difficult to deal with and are not always helpful. However, what I admire most about him is that he led by example. Despite earning £100k+ he lived in a council house, now there's an example of leadership.

I didn’t even reference Crow.
Yet another poster chooses to defame Bob Crow on which must be an incredibly difficult day for his friends and family.
If Happy Tiger had any honour or manhood about him, he’d provide some solid evidence to back up his disgusting remarks; or dare I say it, even retract and apologise.
No doubt, he’d be pestering the mods squealing for a ban if the boot was on the foot of another sod.
