I was reading an interview with Lawney Hill in the RFO this week and she spoke about her son riding King Ozzy this Friday in an amateurs race. So I was more than a little surprised to see the horse taking his chance at Wincanton tomorrow with Nick Schofield taking the ride rather than Joe "ginge" Hill.
I may be reading way too much into this but the yard could hardly be in better form with 2 winners and 2 placed from the last four NH runners. Factor in that horse has been ridden by Joe Hill, Charlie Deutsch and Gina Andrews in his last five and that in that period his rating has dropped from 113 to 94 and he starts to look like betting proposition.
His last three runs have been over 21f, 22f and 24f but tomorrow steps back to two miles. His three wins have been over 19f, 18f and 17f so tomorrows trip looks a whole lot more suitable. His sole win in a chase was at Bangor over 18f on soft so I am hoping that tomorrows ground will not inconvenience him.
Its not a great race and wouldn't take much winning.

The yard like a little touch and I think the market will tell us all we need to know.

KING OZZY 8-1 Wincanton 3:00

Hello lads.

Gonna have a few quid on Carloswayback e/w @ 8/1 in the 5.10 at Clonmel with 1/4 availble for 3 places.

I backed this a couple of seasons ago when he won a decent novices' 'chase at Punchestown before finishing third in a Grade 2 where i thought he was a little disappointing despite running to 133.The horse has obviously had his problems since then but ran a better race than his ultimate position suggests at L'town a year ago off 128 in a very decent race.

He races today off 116 and whilst he has obviously lost ability,it is interesting that he is still with Paul Nolan and could have found a decent opportunity today over his optimal trip.

LTO he bolted up in a PTP with Loosen My Load back in third (fair to say that one is a shadow of his former self also) but it shows Carloswayback is is some sort of form.

He is obviously a risky proposition but this is a moderate race and he's worth a small wager.

GL all.

Lasagne, roast potatoes and carrots. Very good. 8/10.

I see that in the ‘lucky last’ at Winkers today (5.40) Mr Nicholls debuts EARTHMOVES who is a half-brother to the very decent hurdler, Ptit Zig. Fascinating to see how he fares on his introduction. It’s rumoured though that those old rogues the Pipe’s also have a decent one debuting in the same contest so just a watching brief is advised, troops. Afterall, I have no knowledge as to whether or not Daddy Martin had the ‘magic fridge’ open last night. Earthmoves one to keep on the right side of in the future though, methinks.

Now for today’s Cheltenham quiz question. How many Festivals have taken place since the saddle monkey monikered ‘AP McCoy’ was top rider at the Festival.

Good luck all.

A hearty stew, chips and peas. Yummy.

Sir Barney - is this a "trick question" in so far as McCoy has never been top saddle monkey at the festival?

Can't believe you would suggest that Martin Pipe plays with anything other than a VERY straight bat.

No fridge involved Barney - it's all down to the old magic hands as the Seven barrows scientist will tell you <ok>

Oddy, I’m a quizmaster from the Nicholas Parsons mould. I would never ask a trick question. He has indeed been top saddle monkey, at the Cheltenham Festival, in the past. McCoy that is not Nicholas Parsons.

Meanwhile, Daddy Martin’s bat, I’m led to believe, is extraordinarily straight. But that’s mainly due to the contents of the ‘magic fridge’!
