Are we starting the "debate" again about whether the PL is the best or not? You have to judge the strength of the teams from top to bottom, not just whether the top sides are winning the CL or not. Overall the PL has better strength in depth than its rivals from Spain, Germany and Italy. The fact that the three strongest teams in Europe aren't from the PL doesn't defeat that argument - nor does the fact that there are teams here and there who can buy up some of the best players due to oil riches. It's because there is genuine competition throughout our league that it is stronger.
"Are we starting the "debate" again about whether the PL is the best or not?" The PL may not have the best average technical ability per club, nor the very best in the league being miles above their peers in other leagues. But it is not homogeneous. There are various teams that play various ways, all that have a chance to pull off an upset the odd game per season against much better opponents. Watching how the title wannabees deal with them is part of the fun of the PL.
Agree, it was so funny hearing Spurs fan saying we will win the league and finish above Arsenal with the 9 World Class players they brought
"Agree, it was so funny hearing Spurs fan saying" Only one ?? Imagine there were hordes of them. <next year is our year> Poor old scouser. Still hasn't got to grips with the consequences of arguing based on Spurs as a "benchmark" .
A Liverpool fan trying to mock others for claiming that next year will be their year? Really? Your lot have been keeping the bookies rich for decades with your delusions! There's a thread for this stuff, anyway. Any more of it will be moved there.
"There's a thread for this stuff, anyway. Any more of it will be moved there." IMHO he is here precisely because he is deluding himself about the reason for its existence. Even though he has single-handedly proved why such an article SHOULD exist.
Bayern Munich vs Arsenal : from 265 quid. Good to see the club is reducing the cost of tickets to "man in the street" level after the performance against Stoke. Match that if you can, Munich !!!
Only £265 to watch The Goons get splatted all over The Allianz Arena? Sounds like a bargain to me!...
I couldn't agree more. This idea that the league is stronger because it's top team is stronger is ridiculous and just the sort of "logic" that results in the over-hype of the CL. Yet I can't remember any pundit putting the argument that it is the strength in depth that is important, as LDL says.
Actually, the "Mouser Watch" thread is dedicated to you Mousers, not your club. I created that thread to chart the delusion of you Mousers and your ever increasing despair when it dawned on you that LFC was no longer considered a force in top-flight football, especially in the wake of LFC's brush with bankruptcy. One of my early predictions is that, as soon as you had even the merest sniff of a resurgence, every single Mouser and his dog would be far more delusional than he was before and that it would be something obnoxious and loathsome to behold; and in that I am being proved correct. I truly believe that the very worst thing for LFC would be to get CL footy. It's far too soon for you. You are going to be humiliated in that competition. And the idea that you will finish in the top 4 again - especially having your meager resources stretched by fighting a European campaign - are fanciful in the extreme. The need for the "Mouser Watch" thread will be greater than at any time since its creation. God help all of us, and save us from the Mouser delusion!
Doesn't that fan's reaction just tell you how arrogant Gooners' are! They really did expect to win the title this season! They really did think that their paper-thin squad could honestly top Chavs and £ity! They really did believe that Buggy was worth £42 million! Utterly unbelievable!
Lowly Sunderland has already showed, in 5 minutes, more spirit, fight and guile than we showed in our entire two matches against £ity!
In the right frame of mind, I would fancy Citeh to pull off a shocker in the Nou Camp. A cup win today might well do that.
Trophy number 1 in the bank for City. I fancy them for a domestic treble this season, there will never be a better chance for it.
