Everybody watched the same game, you do know that, right? Nearly everybody seems to think that Ramirez put in a decent shift apart from you and the statistics (that I've never, ever looked up before today) bear that out.

But you're too stuffed with self-importance to see that, and only your view could *possibly* be correct.

Have you polled "everyone" ? No, you are just the type who needs the backing of others because of a lack of conviction in your own opinion.

I'm not saying my view is the correct one, I don't give a **** if you disagree or not. I don't give a **** if a million people disagreed with me, I don't say anything I don't mean.

I find it funny people saying a player who was poor... or at a stretch... average... was "SUPERB".
 
I utilise evidence on occasion to support my beliefs. I'm sorry that's so radical a concept to you. Perhaps you should do the same sometimes as it might prevent you from spewing such bitter tasting ****e half the time. Being able to recognise that you may sometimes be incorrect, rather than rampaging on regardless, is actually a strength you know....

I don't lack conviction in the slightest (nice arrogant presumption again) - I just have the sense to check my facts.

Not wrong about this, Ramirez was poor.

Your initial point was he wasn't superb? With that I agree.

Your current point is that he was poor? With that I disagree.


I thought he impacted the game well up until the 2nd goal, at which point the whole team's performance slumped.

the statistics bear it out... well f**k.

i've said nothing. i was all ready to give him another chance having heard how he'd played well off the bench last time out. reckon the choice of taking davis off for him might have been more problematic than the fact he came on at all, but i'm just not going to comment on Gaston. It's a bad job apparently.
 
I didn't understand Steve Davis going off as I thought he was having a decent game.

Ramirez should've come on but I think he would've been better coming on for Lambert at some point in the second half, allowing Jay Rodriguez to sit up top and allowing Lallana and Gaston to sit just behind him.

Right now we don't have a huge amount of 'impactful' options on the bench.

Back to the original point, Ramirez didn't have one of his best games, however, very few of the team did today. He was very isolated and there was very little urgency in general in the second half.

Why is this so complicated? Look, I hate it when people base an opinion purely on stats because it never gives the whole picture. However there's nothing wrong with looking at them to confirm what you perceive at a game, or indeed to show you that your viewpoint may have been slightly skewed. Often can be the case in a real-time situation. In this instance they seem to (note 'seem') to back up what I believe I saw, which was that although not 'superb', Ramirez was by no means 'crap' and nor did he 'lose the ball nearly every time he got it'.

No, which is why it's unwise to base a judgement purely on stats. We're agreed on that. The ones I saw were on Squawker.
 
I absolutely can't rule out that he made any number of tidy passes out on the right wing, where it was difficult for me to distinguish between him and Chambers when his hair blended into the crowd (manchester united grey shirt syndrome), when he came inside though it seemed non stop dross to me after the initial flurry at the beginning of the half. yeah everybody turned to **** that half. That has happened too often when he's come on. In this case i wish he'd have come on for someone without a defensive remit. He should be an alternative to adam/jay/rickie but nobody else in our system. (edit: even adam is a stretch there, given how much work he does box to box)

I'd have been livid if He came on for Adam but as pointed out elsewhere, Adam was nullified in the second half.

FWIW, I agree on heat maps, but the passion statement is why England are ****; you have the English disease
 
My view for what it's worth, after a good first half where we should have been at least level bar some wasteful finishing (again), I was surprised that MP made the change at the break as the midfield had been working well and we had created a number of opportunities.
Gaston made a number of good runs and passes in the first 10-15 minutes and we were on top again but following Liverpools second goal the whole team seemed to slump and lacked the fight to come back. Gaston basically disappeared (not the only one) and ran about the right hand side of midfield with little or no purpose as he isn't the best at tackling back or intercepting passes.
I would have liked MP to leave Steve Davis on for another 10-15 to see if we could maintain the pressure on Liverpool and then if nothing had been gained, then bring Gaston into the game as the final role of the dice.
 
He was not "superb".but he was ok yesterday.good against west ham.whats the point in this thread?
 
I think I'd have been tempted to bring Ramirez on for Lambert and play him further forward. We certainly missed Davis' drive in midfield in the second half.
