"next year" we usually take the piss out of you scousers for saying "next year" but really, if you keep Suarez and manage to sign a centre back that doesn't score own goals then I would back you to challenge.

I can't see Liverpool as champions anytime soon unless they get very lucky with injuries, suspensions, etc. Their squad is still very thin compared to City's or Chavski's. Plus, their defence is still too shaky.

The good thing about Rodgers is he makes an impact with youth players, Flanagan was getting ridiculed by Liverpool fans recently yet Rodgers gives him a chance and plays him and gets rewarded. They have every chance of challenging next year if they strengthen wisely but if they sign players like Aspas and Toure then no chance.

Yeah, Flanagan looks a good young prospect, I have to say. However, Skrtel, Johnson, especially don't inspire me with much confidence in a defensive sense.

    Penalty to L'pool....

    Agree with this.

Big win for us today but the scoreline flatters us.

Hes a clown, and a violent one at that, with no real morals or professionalism. I thought Joe Kinnear was a thug but he has real competition!

Liverpool are extremely overrated. They've had quite a bit of luck. Stop them scoring in the first 20 minutes.... As for next season, all it needs is a loopy bid from Real and Suarez is off. Fed up with all this praise from the utterly biased pro-Liverpool media for praising them for refusing to let him go and / or keeping him happy.

Their attacking play, quick passing and interchanges aren't overrated, its a fact they are the leagues most impressive attacking team (73 goals scored) and they deserve their praise, nothing to do with pro media bias.

Pardew fined £100,000 by Newcastle and issued with a formal warning as to his future conduct. Now let's see what the FA have got in store for him!...

That's a very bitter comment, we've had plenty of bad luck to counterbalance any good luck we've had this season and our goals come at all times during games(look no further than against Spurs at the Lane), as for the praise, its taken a long time to shake off the adverse publicity of Suarez/Evra and the biting incident so what's being said now by the media is said on merit.

  17. Without Goofy, 'Pool would struggle to make top 4. And even with him, they're only in the current top because United appointed Moyes instead of a proper, winning manager.

I expect 'Pool to make top 4, simply because there's only us to challenge them for that spot, and we don't have the consistency, yet, to have any realistic chance of topping them.

Could they win the title next year? Of course they bloody well can't! Do people really think that Chavs and £ity will simply stand still? And when United finally wake up, smell the coffee and get rid of Moyes, they'll spend big, and they'll undo any good that the Mouser-loving press think that Rodgers has done.

What 'Pool has done this season looks impressive, but it has to be put in its proper perspective. Let's not fall into the same delusional trap that Mousers have.

The dynamics of the premier league title race are changing, from when it was traditionally a two year race and the rest where always at a safe distance, its now a much closer race and I expect this to be the case more frequently, as City, Chelsea & Utd all have the power to make sure they are challenging, then you have the goons, Liverpool and outsiders like ourselves who could make more progress depending on how the club changes next year and forward from there, but we have big strides to make before we could even think about a challenge.

But as for Liverpool winning, no one has said they will win the title, but what Liverpool do, are completely annihilate teams and score at will, so if they manage to keep Suarez and make key signings then they will be challenging and have another exciting season and challenging for the title (even as an outsider) is a much healthier position then challenging for top four but ending up 5th and in the Europa league.

Plus its much healthier for the league overall to see a close race, even if City and Chelsea will likely break away in the remaining games. Its same happening in Spain with Athletico Madrid, they are challenging and while they also unlikely to win, they are having an exciting season, rather then the usual bore fest of a league between Barca and Madrid.

Competition is always healthy in any sport. It keeps sides from becoming complacent and generally improves the overall level at which that sport is being played.

In the case of L'pool, they've been a revelation this year. All credit must go to Rodgers, he has really turned them around and got them playing. No, they're not the finished article - a long way from it - but the sight of Suarez, Sturridge, and Sterling coming at you in full flight, is enough to terrify most defences.

O.k. It's not helping our position, but we've only ourselves to blame for that - you have to admit, however, that it's far more entertaining to watch than some of the ****e served up to us by our lot.

Whilst I don't believe that Liverpool have been particularly lucky this season (they certainly were on the wrong side of decisions at Chelsea and City) anyone who thinks that they don't get an easy ride in the media and haven't done for years is not watching football on the TV or reading about it in the papers, (even in the supposedly biased south), for years we have put up with Hansen and Lawrenson on the BBC, Thompson, Redknapp and Souness on Sky, and worst of all Beglin on ITV, but now we have Murphy, Hamman, Owen, Fowler, Carragher, James, and McManaman all spouting on behalf of the 1 club giving Liverpool more people speaking to the nation on their behalf than every other premier league club put together. And whilst I agree you do merit praise this season you have been getting it by the bucket load and if I here anyone else say that you kept Suarez when Spurs sold Bale and thats the difference, does anyone outside Liverpool really believe that if Real had offered the Bale money for Suarez that would still have been the case? No I didnt think so!
