Agree! Someone who can take on the defense ....

Like Aguero, Tevez, Suarez, Robben, Ribbery, Messi (not suggesting we would get any of these but that kinda of type!)

Yeah.. More likley options for this kind of player.

Jackson Martinez
Julian Draxler (expensive)
Mario Balotelli
Angel di Maria

Another slightly different option is Morata. He's a bit more of a target man but is extremely gifted and powerful enough to have no problems with the EPL.

Mario Mandzukic is another possibility but he's a very simular player to Giroud. Perhaps a little better in front of goal.

Alvaro Morata, the 21-year-old striker who was considered a potential starter at Real Madrid in years to come, has agreed to join Arsenal. Not on loan, but transferred.

The Madrid-born and academy-raised Spain Under-21 international has agreed personal terms with the Gunners, who have had him on their radar for quite some time, and tried to sign him during the January window (The Independent).

Real will also, almost certainly, try to add various conditions to the deal which could well include first refusal on buying the player back should he leave the London club, and probably also a clause that will earn them a percentage should the player be transferred in the future.

So while it certainly seems likely that Morata can start brushing up on his English, there’s still a lot of talking to be done.

In truth, however, this is a deal that suits everyone.

The rise to prominence of Jese Rodriguez, who is now the first person that Real manager Carlo Ancelotti turns to when he’s looking to shake things up a bit, has left Morata further down the pecking order.

A proven goalscorer, Morata struck no fewer than 45 times in 83 games for the Real Madrid B side, during which time he was also drafted in to the first-team squad.

Also..

Guillem Balague (@GuillemBalague) recently tweeted...

"Morata has agreed to join Arsenal IF, I repeat IF, I insist IF, clubs agree fee. He will push for Madrid to accept Arsenal's offer."

Two fairly reliable sources both pushing this story. Seems interesting and would explain why we did'nt bring in a striker this January.

I think Morata is too similar to Giroud and Sonogo we need runners with the ball at their feet Balotelli would be great but not for the hart!

whats that first source? sounds to me like a newspaper has just fleshed out balague's tweet...

Will Wenger come back for a bid £Xm plus £1 for Suarez?

Liverpool would **** themselves if we bid £50million + £1 for Suarez. we were serious when we bid before and the bid was designed to trigger release clause of a bid of over £40million from a CL team and thats what Suarez and his agent and Liverpool had a gentleman's agreement on, and lets not forget that he was willing to take legal action to get release clause allowed over the technicality that we were not a CL qualified side [as we had to play a qualifying game], so it maybe only a matter of time before we bid again in the summer or Real Madrid do.

we have the financial power to bid for anyone so why not bid again for Suarez, if only to rock the boat or make Real Madrid bid more

then what will they do with the £50,000,001.00 - will they go and blow it all, like they did with Torres money that they blew on Carroll.

we have already spent £43 million on Ozil and have a reported £150million to spend, so lets see what happens.

IMO i think Liverpool would be bloody foolish to sell to us but stranger things have happened.

my personal wish is that we win EPL with Liverpool second, followed by Chelsea then Man City. with Spurs not getting CL place, and with Manure finishing 6th.

then lets return to the pre SAF era when Manure were ****e and mid table team at best. i can remember when Manure were a second division team LOL

Not keen on Morata, Wenger never learns

do we know where this fact that he has signed comes from. because if we all believed the ****e that papers print about the absolute certain buys that we have made then where the **** is Higuain, Suarez, Draxler, and all the others that we were supposed to have had done deals for last summer/this winter transfer windows.

papers should state that they are making it up as pure speculation, as 90% of the time it is all bollocks.

also welcome back - missed your unique perspective on all things in life :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Balague's tweet/article made no sense. Supposedly we've reached an agreement with Morata, seemingly with Real's consent, but not agreed a fee. Would never happen.

In that order I mean. I can see us going for someone like Morata though I'd rather we looked at somone else (largely due to never really seeing him play!).

It does happen though. Quite often.

Lewandowski to Bayern is a good example of this.
