Four interesting matches on the opening day. Us and Everton,Pool and Sunderland, Stoke and Chelsea and WBA and Man U. WBA finished quite well last season and did well v Utd,it will be a very interesting result if Utd lose. Stoke have beaten Chelsea a few times and will make life difficult for them in the opening match,it's far from easy for Chelsea that one. Sunderland have a good record at Anfield and that's interesting too. Now as for the most important team and that's us,Everton eh? Think about it.Everton under Moyes normally start badly and we normally do well against them at home. Their win a couple of seasons ago was their first since Maggie Thatcher was PM. Now if we win as normal we will have a good season especially if we thrash them. If we draw then an average season beckons and if we unthinkably lose at home to our traditional patsies then I'm gloomy.
I know this might sound a bit premature but I think a good season will be had by Spurs. The other matches are nondescript and don't merit a mention imo. Sorry I missed one and that 's Newcastle and Arsenal. From 0-4 to 4-4 last season and sometimes Newcastle beat the gooners well it could also be interesting to gauge both teams on the result.

5 of last season's top 7 in our first 7 games, I've got to admit I'm worried about how tough our start is. I'm happy to play City early as they're going to have made a lot of changes to their team and Wigan away is good to get out of the way before the pitch turns into marshlands over the winter. There's not really any game in particular that I'm really not happy about but the combination of them all is worrying, we only got 8 points off those fixtures last season.

A little annoyed with the two Arsenal dates, got holiday booked off for both of those dates but a week to early, so will have to try and change those to make sure I'm off.

I like the fixture list to be honest, a nice run in at the end, and considering the fact that we don't play any of the top 6 in the last 8 games of the season, the games against the top 6 do seem well spread out over the course of the season. When you think that is essentially ten games in thirty. We only have Utd-City and Arse-Utd back to back, it could have been worse.

Opening day is a big one though, need to get off and running as we don't want to be playing catch up after only one or two games. I know its still early but the damage can still be done.

I don't think the order is irrelevant. In theory we play each team twice, but in reality the team we play the second time is not going to be the same as the first. We play the squads twice and the team in name twice but thats all. Injuries, transfers, form, previous games and forthcoming games can make a team change how they play.

If you have a few tough games back to back this can affect confidence and morale, fitness, increased risk of injuries and suspensions as the players dig a bit deeper.

If you have a run of a few 'top 6' games back to back you could very well easily end up dropping several points and whilst the other teams have easier fixtures you could suffer in points, and whilst you can catch back up when they play harder games you still have to actually claw it all back.

The fixture pile ups (xmas) you want easier games because of the close nature of the fixtures a small injury may keep someone out for a few days which you don't have, so you hope for these periods to be easier.

If you had to play Man Utd - Chelsea - Arsenal - Liverpool back to back and struggled in the first two games, how much confidence would they have to go into the next? Wouldn't you see the advantage of having an 'easier' game to break that up.

Its all relative and subjective, but I like the look of the fixtures, it seems nicely spread with a good run in.
