    Hi Everybody.

I guess this is the best place to stick this, as there isn't a sticky thread for new members to say hi and introduce themselves (bit of a hint there mods, I know first post an all and already I'm causing grief).

Thought I would finally sign up after spending a while lurking in the shadows of both this forum and the BBC's, and felt that now would be a good time to stick my head up and start posting.

Been a Spurs fan since early-mid 90's, not a regular at the Lane because of work (former pub manager, now a shift worker neither helpful for match attendance, but I am approaching 100 matches.

I have used other (non-football) forums before, so I will warn you that I tend to post longer posts than most, this is also down to a habit of waffling and going off on tangents, and about my over use (and incorrectly using) of brackets which are normally conversations that I have with myself as I think whilst I type. It sounds more confusing that hopefully it is. Its just something that I seem to do. I can't really justify it.

I would class myself as a having a realistic viewpoint about the club and where it can go, there's no point in gambling for success if the end result makes things worse in the long run.

Aside from football, main interests include love of good sitcoms (though I would class myself as a comedy snob), adult humour animation (though not the Manga style), the Beat Generation of writers and the writers of later years that have styles that are similar in one way or another.

One issue in my life though is a fairly constant battle with depression, which when mixed with my general antisocial nature sometimes tends to mean that I will have the risk of 'vanishing' from forums for a short to a helluva long while until I feel that I am up to it again. Having had three bad periods already in life (longest lasting a year and a half) I kinda know that one is always around the corner and it's best to just admit it first than later coming back and having to explain everything when its not the easiest time to explain.

Anyway, I'm sure you have better things to do than read about my god awful life (except those of you at work) so until whenever. Hi and Bye.

Appearance Of A Junky (which normally gets worn down to either Junky or aoaj, personally I prefer Junky).

Erm, why you feel the need to write that on an anonymous forum I don't know! The WUMs will tear into you at any sign of weakness ;)

But welcome aboard - hope you enjoy the site <ok>

That's a fair point, and one that I can fully understand. I know full well that people will happily use anything against someone to make themselves feel better about their own lifes. Hell, in truth we all do it, some will verbally (or in context, written) and others will just think it to themselves.

Yet, I would say that they are more than welcome to try, depression is something that I have dealt with for many years and it's nothing new, I have a very self-depricating sense of humour, so whatever they say I will bet that I have said something far worse about myself than they can do. It is something that is a part of me that will blend into certain aspects of life, it will certainly be reflected within my posting style and the way I will construct points and debates on here. I have no problem with it, I will happily share stupid little things like this on the net, because if someone judges me on these sort of things, it says alot about that person. I wouldn't share many things about my life with the 'net. To me, depression isn't something to be ashamed about in any shape or form. In truth, I kind of see it as a positive things, it has certainly changed my life in the way I will think and act, and I would say that its more positive than negative in that aspect. It's not affected by sports, bad results don't cause a depression. Before it's been a mis-mash of many things but something like football results have no effect. I'm not going to ruin my life or day just because we threw away a four goal lead or over the loss of a player.

If they think that I'm being weak and they take the opportunity to try and 'destroy' me, then so be it, but they better had choose the moment wisely. As I said before, I've been on other forums, I have no worries. (except working out michigan's new name).

Thanks for the warning and welcome though.

Could well be missing something here, but the only Marvin I can think of is this one.

If I was a gooner, I would have made some soggy toast in the bath a long time ago. Some things you can live with, some you just can't.

    Marvin: Freeze? I'm a robot. I'm not a refrigerator.

Marvin: I've been talking to the ship's computer.
    Arthur: And?
    Marvin: It hates me.

Marvin: I think you ought to know I'm feeling very depressed.
Trillian: Well, we have something that may take your mind off it.
Marvin: It won't work, I have an exceptionally large mind.
    Trillian: Yeah, we know.

Marvin: Life? Don't talk to me about life!

Marvin: You can blame the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation for making androids with GPP...
    Arthur: Um... what's GPP?
Marvin: Genuine People Personalities. I'm a personality prototype. You can tell, can't you...?

Junkie as the word is correct, however does that really relate to forum names?

Also, its related to the book 'Junky' by William S Burroughs.

Ahhh Hitchhikers Guide. Yeah, now I know.

I suffer from depression, that doesn't mean I'm a miserable sod, I'm actually a happy person (for the most) suprisingly.

Depends on what you would read anyway, my answer would be yes, but then let's face it, I have created forum accounts with the name for a while, so I should promote it.

However, (and basically) it is about one persons life and demons during several years of being a heroin addict (during late 40's America), its a great book if you can read stuff like that, very well written, doesn't promote or shame drug use, just more about life when using. The author himself was obviously a user during this period. (published in early 50's).

Its not the best book, (that I would say goes to One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest). But it's just one that falls into my set of interests and when trying to think of a decent forum name a while back, using it within Appearance Of A Junky seemed to work.

There is availiable online (from places) an audiobook (abridged version - so about 4 cds length) of the author reading the book, which is a good quick insight into it though.

Would I recommend it - probably yes, but at the same time knowing full well that most won't like it because of its nature.
