The Official Off-Topic Chat Thread now known as "Cortese's Corner", formerly Beefy's Corner, who suggested we re-name it.

Firstly, the normal rules of the site apply. You cannot start a discussion about contentious issues, Politics, Religion, or show Porn, etc... The flip side of this arrangement is that there will be a much stricter enforcement of the "no going off topic" rule which has always been the case anyway, on the other threads.

Secondly, the normal rules of the Saints board will apply, (except that you can go off-topic obviously). This is not going to become a "private GC Lite." Personal insults will not be tolerated, and neither will goading someone to draw them out. The whole tone of this board has suffered in the past as differing views have been aired and there have been far too many angry exchanges. Vitriolic exchanges are not welcome and will be dealt with as appropriate. If you have fallen out with a poster put him on your ignore list and don't rise to the bait!
If you see content which is not appropriate, please send the mods a PM rather than fronting up the poster and let us deal with it to save a bun-fight. Lastly, if a thread is closed or deleted by one of the Mods, and you have some good reason that it should reopen, then send us a PM with your reasons. Simply re-posting the same thread again to be confrontational would be considered very provocative and would probably lead to action being taken.

It would seem that large numbers of posts and subjects causes problems for mobile phone users to access this site. So from time to time it will be necessary to close the threads down and start a new one. Approximately every 1000 posts or so.

Messages that are purely designed to increase a post count will be deleted.

Lorde with out make up or being air brushed looks like umm.

The age difference, I don't like it. I don't think I'd date a 17 year old now let alone when I'm 24.

Yeah 18 is youngest I would go for. Even then I would be slightly worried about the age gap.

I dunno how long they've been together, but they were definitely together when she was 16 and he was 24. Hopefully not when she was 15..! 16 and 24 is really strange though.

Lorde is incredibly frustrating for me to see and hear - I started working with and developing a young female artist about two years ago because everybody with a brain could see that the industry was getting too look/body/shock conscious with young stars, culminating with Miley Cyrus - somebody needed to come along and show these kids that you could be a FAR more credible and equally successful artist through good music and talent, rather than flashing tits and arse. Lorde is the primary person to come out as the backlash against that and she's just beaten my act to that point. The frustration being, the girl I'm working with is everything Lorde is but a lot better (my opinion may be clouded as her manager, but this isn't just my opinion). Her music is a lot more challenging and interesting, her voice is a hell of a lot better and she looks better too (yes I realise that sounds hypocritical in context, but that side always exists).

She'll be in your faces from about May/June though, so still confident (plus she's a Brit :))

Anyway LTL, why do you hate her so much? Is it just that Royals is really annoying?

EDIT: Okay disregard that. Will read that post and reply :(

Sounds very interesting - you not going to tip us off so we can all tell our friends to look out for a new star and claim plaudits when it comes off? :)

I reckon Laura Marling is all of those things anyway. She's fantastic <3
