It's a strange old season but a stupid sacking nonetheless. They beat United not long ago and gave City are far better run for their money than we did, not to mention getting them their highest ever PL finish and first top level trophy in decades. If they've really only sacked him because of a bad run of form and uncertainty about his future then they're stupid. I feel sorry for their fans as presumably they'll think this is a bad decision.

I believe Spurs could have gone out of business at the very start.
They resigned from the Southern League to enter the Football League but weren't elected. It so happened that a team dropped out and Spurs fortunately got in........and Association Football never looked back!

Their bad run of form is quite bad, though. Since they won the league cup, they have hopeless in the league. Read on the Swansea board, that they managed to get 36 points from their last 38 games or something.

There has been reputed conflict between Laudrup and the chairman for some time now. It's a shame that it's come to this. Personally, I believe Laudrup will go on to be a very good coach/ manager.

Well if you mixed all the drinks that have sponsored it (Milk, Worthington, Coca Cola and Carling) it would leave a bitter taste in your mouth.

If he tends to have disagreements with the Chairman, he should avoid us.

If you look at just the league then yeah it's not great but he's more than earned the right to turn it around. It's all very like Redknapp's sacking in terms of the achievements with us, Laudrup got them to a record high position, qualified for the EL and done well(CL for Redknapp) and won them a trophy(absent from Redknapp's time). The difference is that Laudrup has been respectful, ruling himself out of the reckoning for jobs, not running his mouth at every opportunity or hiring an agent that tries to put clubs over a barrel.

Watching the Fulham game tonight...FA Cup replay...only around 11,000 there.
We've had empty seats at EL matches to the point that the club have made these tickets pretty cheap...£18 for adults.
The goons regularly have a couple thousand empty seats for all but their top matches, West Ham and Chelsea regularly advertise tickets on talksport.

Are we now seeing that the recession in london is finally making the massive ticket prices charged unaffordable for thousands of normal fans?
    Or is there another reason?

In last 7yrs, Fergie's the only League Cup winning boss 2 be in the same job by the day of the following season's final.

I agree I wouldn't have sacked him but I remember saying Saints where idiots for sacking Adkins for some failure in Spain. Looked how that turned out!

Although Swansea as a club rarely sack managers so I would assume there is more to this then we know, or there are problems within the board and their relationship with Laudrup as if you read part of the statement :

That suggests there where problems that we don't know about, apart from rumours.

I'd argue it's more a case of the Premier and Champions Leagues killing interest in the domestic cups.

Spurs, Chelsea and Arsenal are overpriced for sure, but tickets for Fulham and West Ham are still very affordable in comparison.

The Laudrup sacking is foolish in my opinion. Michu's carried them last season and he hasn't been there to do the same this time, not the manager's fault.

You know, this can be a wonderful of game of ours, sometimes!
I've just watched Sheff United beat Fulham.
I felt so good for the S. United fans (more of them then Fulham fans by the look of it).
Lord knows what time the United fans are going to get home, probably in the morning if they hold the trains up for them.....they probably were ready for Fulham to knock their blocks off in this replay....but they didn't!
They turned up to support their team, lotes of 'em too.
Even Nigel Clough had a smile on his face......and this after getting the bullet from Derby!
    Well done,fans!!!!!

Anelka's mate has been banned from entering the UK. I hear that, to show solidarity, Anelka's next goal celebration will involve him invading Poland.

Southampton had been in contact with Pochettino for awhile and were basically waiting for an opportunity to sack Adkins so they could hire him. Adkins was very unlucky to be treated so poorly after all he'd done and it was probably unethical to go about it the way that Soton did but at the end of the day it was Soton's risk to take. With Laudrup being sacked it's not just that he didn't deserve it but that they don't have a replacement lined up and go into a derby and crucial game as a mess. On top of that, who could possibly be better for Swansea than Laudrup, his connections are hugely important for signing players. No offence to Swansea but they're nobodies to foreign players without someone like Laudrup at the club.

I wonder if Laudrup was manoeuvring his way out of Swansea to take a job elsewhere.

Something does seem a little suspect, and he has been less than committal in terms of a new contract since the summer. If so, I hope he's not headed our way - partly because I'd rather we didn't stoop to the sort of chicanery associated with members of Sky's friends and family package, but also because the last time we decided to go all-out for a manager and bend the rules to get him we got a small amount of points after a certain amount of games.
