They do have a man lined up and have been talking to him for a while. He's Graeme Jones, Martinez's assistant at Everton who was also assistant at Swansea when Martinez was there. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...es-to-replace-Michael-Laudrup-as-manager.html
Think the Laudrop sacking is ludicrous. They've been without Michu, Hernandez, Dyer for long periods and for a side who hasn't got that much depth in a squad, missing those sort of players is colossal. Amazing how fortunes turn in football. Trophy in 1st season, linked to us earlier this season and now finds himself without a club.
The chairman got the hump because after being beaten ,Landrup went to Paris and gave the players two day's off
Just looked at a posting by D/L on the chelsea board,he's become just like a mouser, saying chelsea will win the FA cup and P/L,on the back of beating City once,he even thinks they will win the C/L because of it
That's what has always surprised me about DL. He's so schizoid. One minute, he'll be holding forth a beautifully reasoned argument, mixing it with the best of us, and the next, he's giving us his best "Peskie" impersonation. Weird.
I like Laudrup but thought he fell too hard for the possession game, as did AVB in a different way. If you have a team which is hands-down better than anyone else, maximizing possession makes a lot of sense. Otherwise, not so much, IMO. Swansea had lots of the ball but we had almost all the good chances when we played. I felt they needed a change in tactics. If you're not better than everyone else, you at least need to be able to play counterattacking football, and ought to seriously consider it as a first option.
I've often thought that the way Swansea play, the way Spurs played under AVB and the way Barca play is good for if you are 2 goals up. You knacker the other team out chasing the ball, you have no desperate need to score, but if you do then great. You press high up the pitch meaning you don't give up many chances but inviting the team into your half.
AVB forgot that possession without speed, risk and imagination was both pointless and tedious to watch...last season was ok ... his first season with a majority of players he hadn't chosen etc. but this season I can only remember 1 good prem game to watch which was the home match v united
Quiz Question: Who am I? Now playing in Scotland, I'm an international player and I've played club football in Serbia, Israel, Qatar, France, Denmark, Burnley, Birmingham & Manchester.
Well, more to the Laudrup thing than met the eye. I'd sack him too. Whats with all the letting the players keep gadding about on little hols, Laudrup let them go to Paris on the piss after their last defeat, Dubai recently...what is he thinking??, he's somehow managed a split dressing room, and stills try to play his way out from the back when losing at home. Some players are glad he's gone, awful man-manager, far too laid back and thats their opinion. As a chairman, for the money spent in 2 years, if a run of decent performances are still dependant on one injury prone Spaniard, I think I'd be expecting a little more.
John Terry: Why England need Chelsea skipper for Brazil 2014 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26035204 Good case for Terry to be recalled as on form hes the best English centre back in the country but no matter who is picked, England will be an embarrassment so does it really matter who goes? Although I would rather Terry then "planning for the future" which includes Chris Smalling
