Actually, good for them.

We did the same with Suarez. Why should they sell if they don't want to? He's their star local player. Good on them.

Hypocritical to call Dnipro bastards for that. Maybe if the owners refused to sell then Ayre should have left and not agreed personal terms for 3 days. I'm not sure what he expected, their owner to suddenly say, "well he's had a medical despite me not saying he could, so I suppose I better change my mind"?

I appreciated what you're saying but...

We met a release clause. We been given permission to speak to the player. We'd agreed personal terms. The owner just refuse to sign it and has reported said "sue me" <doh>

Stop and think for a moment.

There is no way on this sweet earth that Ian Ayre would travel to Ukraine unless there was some deal to negotiate. Ayre would have to have gained permission from the club to talk to the player.. There is no way that permission would have been granted until a fee had been been discussed and agreed with his club. If the social media is to be believed then the player even had a medical and there is no way they would have allowed that without the majority of the fine detail of a deal had been sorted.

So Ayre had been dealing with the club but the offiicials at the club did not have the final say. That lay with their own Abramovich who refused to sign the contract. However, I doubt that the club would have gone as far as drawing up a contract if they had not had some indication from the owner that he would consider a deal. On this occasion I don't believe that it was LFC's fault and certainly not Ayre's.

However, it is imperative that we overhaul our negotiating system in time for the Summer Window.

If it turns out we met a buyout clause would you be in favour in trying to pin the arse to the wall? Bad enough these rich teats think it's their toy but if they don't even apply the basic rules then the system will eventually collapse.

But on the bright side:

Let's put it like this, if the Ukraines do indeed get away with ignoring a legally binding release clause, Suarez will be well depressed at the precedent that sets! lol.

Seem to be in the wrong here. Two points

We have been messing up the "big" transfers. Whoever it is, comittee, owners, ayre, BR, it needs to be sorted.

I totally agree with G that we should not have even been going after Kono and Salah. Hernanes, Diego Ribas, Mvila, Fernando, Richards, Montoya, Banega, Romulo, etc should have been the type of names we were after. CM's and fullbacks.

A kind of reverse Bowman that favours the club instead of the player.

I don't think it will be for us to take them to the wall. The contract is between club and player <ok>

United have big problems. But so do we. 1st half done. Only 6 pts gap.

Difference in 2nd half:

We have lost our only DM.
We have lost our good Fullbacks.

Okay... we were without one or the other of SAS for much of first half... no guarentee we will have them this half... and defence is a bigger bugger spot anyway.

United meanwhile have a new fantastic player.

I think Utd have to think they can improve by 6pts in end games. I would say better odds of them in 4th than us. Even Moyes shouldn't be able to screw that up.

Still have a chance... but bloody difficult task with no DM. Almost have to hope one of three above us collapse too.

Bloody hell lad you could moan for England!

My God, what an interesting night ;-)

Got to laugh at how some people turn in to right drama queens and start moaning that the world is ending, just because one transfer deal fall over.

Look on the bright side, we could be Arsenal, still with no strikers.

That's rubbish. Ayre knows that he could not even talk to the player let alone subject him to a medical without permission of the club. So Dnipro have behaved like bastards. Plus I will not accept that their owner was unaware and finally stepped-in to say No. It doesn't work like that!

Dave's quite chirpy, sees us where we actually are: 4th with half our players injured half the time one way or another.

Rest of us are just greedy lol.

I argue with Dave about our prospects quite often but we did agree that fourth was our realistic target the other day. We should aim for first though.

I know but that was included in my point lol. They might have 3 CM's they think worthy but can't get right now and don't rate those they can get....etc etc..

Yeah but 5 months to identify a few midfielders better than Allen or defenders better than Cissokho or Johnson?? If they'd only come up with a list of 3 players worldwide who'd improve our full backs or midfield they need to be fired....literally <ok>

Realistically Frank if they paid us lot we could give them a list of 20 players better than Johnson (on current form), 50 better than Allen and 200 better than Cissokho (and even a few wingers if that's what Buck wants). These guys have had months to identify targets and a month to sound them out and sort deals out.

Least they have midfielders <laugh>
