"However, their hopes of signing Olympiakos striker Kostas Mitroglou are in the balance after West Ham lodged a more lucrative offer to the Greece international."[/I]

That would be the answer to why he'd choose West Ham over us: 'a more lucrative offer'. To be fair, it doesn't say whether Mitroglou or Olympiakos would be the ones to benefit from West Ham's largesse.

In some ways WH's bid helps us out, we find out whether he is a Fulhamish player. Does he want a crack at the PL to prove himself, he would be a guaranteed starter with us, or does he just want money - WH have 5 strikers already, one they just brought in.

I like the look of Kostas but I wouldn't be devastated if we missed out, particularly if its on account of him wanting more money, so long as we picked up another striker.

It would need to be the player - I doubt the player would care if Olympiakos got a bigger offer, since they've already accepted our bid for him.

It's in West Ham's best interests to at least drive the price up for us, if nothing else. Mitroglou would be better off coming to us, but sometimes that money can talk...

Aiden Magee has confirmed that Lewis Holtby is training with Fulham this morning as he waits for the formalities of his switch from Tottenham to be completed. The Cottagers are also hoping to fend off rival interest from West Ham in Kostas Mitroglou and bring the Olympiakos striker to Craven Cottage.

So very optimistic now with Lewis!

Please please please please.

I followed the links from your link and saw a montage of his goals this (last?) season. Power, pace, technical skill and a good mix of flashy goals and bread and butter right-place-right-time stuff. I'm going to be devastated now if we don't sign him, particularly as I doubt there will be time to line up an alternative.

Hughes could be off to QPR!

Try to keep up, Craving - I posted that half an hour ago! Apparently if he goes we might be in for Heitinga as his replacement. In age terms, even though Heitinga's no spring chicken, he's four years younger than Aaron. It would be a shame for Dan Burn if we bring in another senior centre back, but that would be better than going down for not recruiting well.

Well, let's not pay them anything for him then - we don't want to fund their move for Mitroglou!

Ah the dangers of twitter!

Hughes to QPR now being reported as a done deal.

Sidwell to WBA for £4m being suggested- would make sense with Kvist coming in along with 2 Utd midfielders.

BBC are reporting that Berba is on his way to Monaco, not Spurs. Still not a done deal though. I hope the people who said Holtby isn't dependent on Berba were right.

This is Taraabt's last chance I'd say - he's got the platform, huge club with big support - can he be arsed to get his head down and produce?

Taylor's phone will be off the hook all day.

I was going to say I couldn't care less but I actually hope he does do well. It's always a shame when players with loads of talent don't fulfil their potential. Glad he's gone though.
