£37m is too much to be fair, Ozil was only £5m more and he was a fully developed world class player

I think there could be some truth in Wengers words "Draxler is an illusion". I think the whole story was invented by the press, recirculated and started to live its' own life. I gathered details, some stuff like buyout clause which was taken for granted, only for Schalke to explain weeks later that there was no clause whatsoever anymore. I guess Wenger has had some tentative interest in Draxler some time ago, but all the rest is just media snowball and fans are buying it. I think both Wenger and Draxler are LOL if they are reading it all. I belive Schalke when they say there was no contact and no offer from Arsenal.

My guess is that we'll see 1 player brought in tomorrow. At a stretch 2. A loan sign may be possible. Not sure for who though.

Too many usually reliable sources involved for this not to be at least near the facts......

BBC Sport's David Ornstein
No Draxler for Arsenal

"Arsenal will not be signing Julian Draxler from Schalke after deciding they are unwilling to meet the German club's asking price.
"The Gunners were interested in bringing the 20-year-old Germany attacking midfielder to Emirates Stadium this transfer window, but they have decided against proceeding with the move.
"Schalke reportedly wanted around 45m euros for Draxler but the Arsenal board and manager Arsene Wenger had a lower valuation.
"The only deal Arsenal are understood to be considering before the Friday 23:00 GMT deadline is the acquisition of a player on loan until the end of the season."

Oh dear, that caps off a rather crappy January window.

I wonder if we'll test Shalke with a late bid around thirty million ....... ?

Seems like wishful thinking Piskie. Sadly, once again, there's a big hole in the squad, it's deadline day, and no-one has yet arrived to fill it.

Someone may come in today, but Arsenal seemingly ALWAYS leave it til the very last minute.

Can't see either of them being happy to come & play second fiddle. It would upset Giroud a lot - he averages 1 in 2 anyway - and cost huge amounts in wages.

It's definitely one or the other.

Vucinic is younger, and more motivated. Berb has PL experience & incredible technique. Answers on a postcard people...

Both of them would seek relatively long term contracts, so whoever we get the club realizes that getting rid if them will be a lot harder then getting them.

A player on loan with option to buy seems most likely.
