Well there are all sorts of reasons and that is one but if we sign good players we should be able to move them on if they don't keep is up. Just thinking it shows some concern in letting Hughton develop a squad further. Personally I think the transfer dealings whilst he's been here have been, in general, very good.
I thought Hughton denied Ciani in the press conference earlier? A loan deal makes some sense to me, so long as he comes with the right attitude. It's cover and competition, without giving us another high-earner to off-load should we get relegated. January's not the best time for buying anyway, so we're likely to get better value for money if we save it until the summer, even if we end up bringing the same player(s) back on permanent deals.
The article is here. Depends on who this mythical midfielder we might sign is really as to whether this is reasonable business or not.
there is absolutely nothing in that article to suggest that hoolahan is in talks with villa other than an inflammatory headline designed to get website hits. people need to stop believing every article they read. some will be right but most are absolute dog turd
Just because Wes' people are talking doesn't mean a deal is done and given we've already cited villa for tapping up I'd be very surprised if we are willing to deal with Villa now.
Sky are reporting that Hoolahan's agent is at the club right now. They are implying that this means the saga isn't over. Well, I'd tend to agree simply because the window hasn't shut yet, but isn't it equally possible that the agent is discussing a contract extension?
Hardly likely to be in "the right frame of mind". Maybe when the window is shut his mind will clear somewhat.
A mate of mine just informed me that "Over 50% of the transfers concluded in the January transfer window in the last three seasons/years, happened on deadline day." What a tease.
Latest Hoolahan rumour via Warren Haughton (of talksh***), is that he was told he could find a new club as far back as November, only for us now to block his transfer request.
No idea. If you specifically rule Villa out, it's hard not to then rule most of the bottom half of the Prem out as they're all rivals. Selling him to Celtic would be nice!
