I think we just need to come to terms that aesthetics are just that. We will be entertained by other factors such as the racing and drama. I am already over the noses.

What is ERS? Is that an automatic energy recovery and release system, or is it an actual button activation system?

I'm not entirely sure how it's deployed but there's bound to be a push to pass overide.... maybe :)

I should really read into it but I cannot be bothered. Maybe Sky will inform us graphically in a GP pre-show this season.

Bloody hell just seen these videos of testing, a few things. They clips are ace, it really looks as if the element of "driving" a car has returned. A few twitches with Raikkonen and Perez there. Nice to see Kimi gunning it at a few points.

But the 2014 cars, there is something about them that makes them more exciting in general.

There was talk of FOM having fuel remaining and ERS use graphics. Hope it's true

He's got s point, but what's the solution to making a nose that's not going to potentially cause some catastrophic outcome under all the various potential circumstances?

Fit cars with magnets of the same pole, they'll never collide. Can't see any issues, whiting better watch out, I'm after his job.

I know one F1 fangroup that wont like what Newey has to say about safety with noses *cough* Ferrari *cough* because of the tyre situation last season and the belief they just bitched about it because it was a way for them to dominate (even though Vettel was already miles ahead of everybody anyway). But they were proven 100% correct in the end with all the storm at Silverstone and there was no real agenda about it for months with all the complaints by Red Bull and Vettel about safety with the Pirelli's. Maybe it's the same for these noses and that it just hasn't happened yet which is a blessing. Newey's opinion on safety should be taken into account as that is much more important than the FIA trying to stack the deck against them just to make a better show or 'even' field.

If a designer has any kind of safety concern, they should be heard without any form of dismissal based on support.

Track will most likely still be damp when testing starts in 45mins. Not that it'll matter much since most teams will be spending the day trying to get the car started in the garage

    Williams F1 Team ‏@WilliamsF1Team30s
Good morning from Jerez! It's a wet start to the day so the morning will be used for wet tyre running with Pirelli

First day at Jerez: 2014- 93 laps managed in all. 657 laps in 2013, 718 laps in 2012 by comparison

p.s. I thought I was owning this thread but no....

The track is being artificially watered at the moment to aid wet running #f1

    Pirelli Motorsport ‏@pirellisport3m
Pirelli organised a truck that is currently putting some more water on the track, so teams can use the full wets now and inters later on

The "wet running" day has been moved forward from Friday to now.....

    Sky Sports F1 ‏@SkySportsF12m
We're up and running in the live hub for Jerez Day Two, with rain bringing Pirelli's wet-tyre running forward http://bit.ly/1aGRmiM #skyf1

Thanks for posting the Youtube clips. One thing I will say it's quite easy to identify different cars at the moment due to their different noses. You're not going to mistake a Ferrari with a Force India that's for sure.

    Picture unrelated?

08:18 Aha. We're green, and we have an engine fired up.

Not only that, we have a new car - the McLaren MP4-29 takes to the track and opens proceedings for day two.

Why not just test at Silverstone? Would have been cheaper for the teams!
