Hopefully something will be done in memory of one of golfs greats at The Open this year. He was fantastic to watch in the late 70's and 80's and was always entertaining.
In one interview he even admitted that he was more popular in Britain than he was in his homeland. Sad he died so tragically young.
I shall never forgetwhen he became the Car Park champion in The Open in 1979 I think. And who could forget the 18th at St Andrews in 1984 when he holed that putt and went dollally!!
In that tournament he beat my favourite ever golfer Tom Watson who got himself in trouble at the 17th Road Hole.
Tom Watson, in my lifetime anyway, was the best golfer I have seen and he really should have won more majors than his eight in total. Alas he fell victim to the dreaded "yips" round about 1985 and that stopped his winning momentum.
Who is the best golfer that you have seen in your lifetime?
