I'm not referring to you RDBD. Its the character assassinators., the ones that influence the gullible, they're the one's who fascinate me.
You credit yourself with far too much importance if you think my comments are just about you. Your opinions on the characters of various people at Spurs are just that, opinions and they tell us far more about you than the people you choose to castigate. Shame, none of this is needed on a board that for most part is very good natured.
It tend to agree with a lot of Spurf's comments on what can be expected from today's top players. Unfortunately, very few of them have any sense of loyalty, they are mercenaries because the nature of today's game has encouraged them to be so. When I worked in the City, I quickly discovered that loyalty was a one way street. You were expected to be loyal to your employer, but they would display very little to you - they would cut you at a moment's notice, if it suited them. I get the idea that similar attitudes prevail in the vast majority of premiership clubs. Players know this and take what they can, while they can get it. In other words, the money in today's game and the cutthroat culture of top clubs, encourages and breeds the attitudes of today's players. If you behave like a mercenary yourself, you can hardly expect those you employ to have a vastly different attitude.
I can't deny that I've never been impressed with Ade's attitude on the pitch at times, granted since he's come back in the side he looks like the guy from 2011/12 but is that because he's angling for a move/ contract or does he genuinely want to perform well for Spurs? His record suggests he only plays well when he wants too, if you could put Holtby's attitude (look, I praised Holtby!) into Adebayor's quality, we'd have one of the best strikers in world football because he really is unplayable when he's in the mood. You could argue by saying that had he and AVB got along better last season, there'd be no need for us to have splashed £26m on Soldado. I've yet to see this interview though, be interesting to watch.
I've never met Emmanuel Adebayor, and can't say I know him in the slightest. I watch him play football, hear him talk to the media, and hear various people saying various things about him, mostly on this board. I do know there are lots of people who come across badly in the media who are very good people and vice versa. So all I can give is my possibly false impressions, which are: He's a good person on balance, who seems to be well-liked and is sincere about trying to help people. He's not as focused on his sport as a multimillionaire athlete should be. But it seems to me he gets more flak than other athletes who are bigger prima donnas. I don't think he gives less than an average effort for example, while I know some will disagree with me on that point. There do seem to be two Ades: the confident, inspired one who in the past has started for top clubs, and the slightly lost athlete who continues to work and run the channels but doesn't score and looks a little frustrated. But this makes him like other strikers except those who never score on the one hand, and Messi and Ronaldo on the other. As I say, however, I'm no expert on the subject.
I recall you took a similar haughty attitude with HIAG very recently. He said "shame on you" for your attitude. I say the same to you on this matter. You, more than anyone, jumped on posters for supporting Harry. You, more than anyone, jumped on posters for being anti AVB, and yet now, we have you criticising the AVB regime as much as anyone conveniently using as your justification, the Endield bus to the hotel saga as your main gripe. Something which I drew your attention to on here. Doesn't that come under your definition of castigation ?? Sorry for being critical of some people and sorry for praising some others. In fact sorry for having an opinion which dares to differ from yours and then having the cheek to post it on here.
A classic post of someone accusing you of what they themselves are guilty of. I think my critism of Harry is what gets to you most but I remind you that just like you I am simply a poster who is entitled to a view. I am very confident that most people on here would think that most of my behavoiur is fare as they they have expressed this many times. You however seem to have a real chip for some reason and I find that a little sad especially from someone who I have actively supported in the past. Your inside info is often very interesting but you really need to deal with your attitude which to say the least is **** and a little childish.
Guys You are both top posters on this forum for different reasons and opinions. Think is best that this spat continues in pm if at all......
It has and you will be pleased to know that we have reached mutual agreement and with it mutual respect.
I second that. I have great respect for both of you and look forward to finding out what you have to say.
Actually, no - I take that back. Spurcat is too erudite for that, and I cannot recall him using either of the adjectives "top-top" or "triffick" to describe anyone on this board.
And there was me hoping we'd see our first live-streamed Not606 fight. Good to see you two have patched things up
