Thanks--I generally appreciate positive views, though for some reason I often take a negative tack myself.

In the largest scale I may be more reassured that Spurs are going in the right direction. The basic idea behind selling Bale was to spend 10-25 million on 3-4 other players, get the new Bale, and the rest are a bonus. It's far, far, far too early to say Eiriksen is the new Bale (he's kind of looked like it for a couple of games, with the exception of being two footed); but the chance of one of him, Lamela, Holtby, Townsend, or Chadli <yikes> turning into one eventually, or of two of them being half-Bales, are decent, and the plan looks like a decent gamble.

As poor as we were for much of the game, under Sherwood we now seem to have what we desperately needed: a cutting edge--though this has consisted largely, so far, of Ade and Eiriksen. The basic plan of sitting back to at least some extent, to get our talented players into open field on the counterattack, has been a notable success. We need to keep improving, and keep grabbing points, if we're to catch up to Liverpool in particular, who are looking very sharp. Either that or hope they have a key injury or two. In the best of all possible worlds, it's hard to imagine a trio who are going to score as much as Suarez, Sturridge and Coutinho.

Interesting team selection today...especially soldado on bench and not playing 442....impressed so far but...city is a different matter altogether.
In some ways performance is going to be more important than the result...but then I expect city to win!

Sherwoods' post-match interview showed he understood that the Swansea possession game
would require something different. And means the coaches are thinking about the opponents as appropriate.

4-4-2 against most PL opponents would probably suffice. Against others, not really.
Having a squad comfortable with playing different formations, and a manager not afraid
to select those formations for reasons other than injury plagues, is IMHO the most you can ask.

"a good thing in my view"

Indeed.
Though for the Goons we know that 4-4-2 is generally not a good MF formation to play
(even though we have had some results / ridden our luck with it) . The formation for the
Citeh game will be interesting because Toure is an utter beast at the moment, regardless of
the rest of their MF threat.

14. At first, I nearly shat myself when I saw this, but then I kinda got to thinking that the advice he gets from "king" Kenny probably has nothing whatsoever to do with football. It's probably stuff like, "what brand of whiskey will get me pissed the quickest?" and "Could you recommend me a decent brand of incontinence pants, when I'm too old to retain bladder control?" That kind of thing.

If this is accurate, Tim has put his head on the block refusing strengthening areas we've been talking about for months and it looks we had the money to do so.

He's a forthright fellow is our Tim, I'll give him that, he doesn't appear to give a **** who's stood in front of him. Of the alleged Levy/Baldini combo..."They can get them in. They won't play!" <laugh>

18. Reading that interview, I was with Sherwoodie right up to the moment he said:

“As I’ve said, we’ve got strikers at the moment who can do the job..."

Sorry, Tim, but as we have all witnessed over the course of this season, and for most of the past three seasons, the correct response, from anyone who is not a complete and utter ****wit is, "we've got players who are, laughably, referred to as "strikers," and I'm looking to get them back off to clown school just as soon as I can get some real strikers in through the door."

If nothing else tells you that Sherwoodie is out of his depth, this is it, folks.

I agree with him. We don't need new players, we need the ones we have to get time together
