You've been finishing below us, so that makes no sense. I think you'll find that finances is what's stopped us from progressing past those that have been finishing above us. Various clubs that have outspent us have finished below us too, though.
It does make sense. My point is you lot don't believe in yourselves that you should be battling with the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea. You're not comfortable up there due to years of playing second fiddle. That's the mentality I'm talking about, where you finish in relation to us doesn't change that. We aim high and believe we can get there, but don't - hence the delusion claims
Yet your own fellow Scousers were criticising Spurs fans and the club for thinking that we could win the league earlier in the thread. Which is it?
Well first point we are all individuals - so what "some" may have said doesn't mean that's the opinion of all our fans - come on you're better than that. I didn't think you could win this year but I thought you'd be there or, there abouts. I think you should and would have done better in the last two years if you had believed in yourselves a bit more.
As you point out we're all individuals, so who needed to believe more? The fans? The manager/s? The players? I think that we've done as well as can be expected and our progress has been hampered by having our best players picked off whenever we seem to be getting anywhere. We've lacked stability and consistency as a result, as Levy has attempted to address our financial inequality by overhauling the youth system, the training facilities and attempting to sort out the stadium. We're in a Catch 22 situation, unfortunately. We don't have the extra money that regular Champions League football would give us, so we can't spend enough to get regular Champions League football. Barring a Chelsea or City-style takeover we can only bide our time and attempt to do things slowly.
I don't care what anyone tells me, Mousers will always be deluded. Hell, they could "do" a Leeds United, get relegated, and vanish into footballing obscurity, and Mousers would still be giving it the big 'un against the likes of Port Vale and Scunthorpe.
Yet we've been battling with Arsenal the past 2 seasons with only one point seperating us and we finished above Chelsea 2 seasons ago and finished below them after being in the mix with them for most of the season. People don't think Liverpool fans are deluded for what they think could happen but what they think will happen.
When they were in League One a few seasons back, Leeds fans mouthing off on the Old606 Spurs boars always reminded me of this bloke: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-25772192
Only just back home this evening... I am ashamed to say, that 'Pool has let football and all of us who love and support it down, yet again, with the antics of Goofy. Okay, so we all suspected that it would only be a matter of time before he reverted back to his cheating ways, but that dive against Villa was appalling. Even Steve Nicol - a 'Pool legend - said, on TalkSport, tonight, that there was no contact from the Villa goalie, and that Goofy dived to cheat Villa out of 2 points. I feel sullied, soiled, and sickened. It's another black, black day for the game we all used to love.
Prior to this season, the antics were to the fore and the Poool weren't doing that great in the PL. This season since his return, there doesn't seem to have been much said on this and their PL form has been good. Perhaps the goofy antics are a barometer of how the Poool will deal with the CL slot dogfight pressure.
I must say that's one of HIAG's better provocations. I'm surprised it hasn't been bombarded with replies by irate, wound up Mousers by now!...must be a good day for adding to their hub-cap collections!...
Martin Skrtel hasn't picked up a Scouse accent during his time at Liverpool. Why? Because he tries to speak proper English!
Sewerez`s dive yesterday was the second penalty the Mousers have been gifted by the referee in the last 2 games, which has given them an undeserved extra 3 points. I am not sure which dive was the worst, Sterling`s at Stoke with the game finely poised at 2-2, or Goofy`s yesterday to claim an undeserved draw.
Sturridge diving against Stoke??? If you're going to try and have a dig the bare minimum is to at least get the players name right
Skylarker's right, it was clearly Sterling that dived against Stoke after handballing it to gain possession. Sterling not Sturridge.
S this. S that. Can they not just name all their dive (bomber) players "Stuka" to make it easy for the rest of us ??
Sorry stand corrected it was Sterling, they do look similar and so many Liverpool players dive it is easy to make mistakes, particularly on a Sunday with a hangover.
The reason for it, no doubt, NSS, is that there isn't a single Mouser on this board who wants to be seen trying to defend the indefensible. Most of the Mousers on this thread seem reasonable and intelligent, which would make it difficult for them to defend Goofy's appalling dive. If Steve Nicol, a club legend, comes out and openly states that it was clearly a dive, who would dare try to say otherwise? Turning to the incident itself, the only good thing to come out of it is that every ref up and down the land will now have watched the replay of the incident, will have clocked that the ref was sold for a right mug by Goofy, and will never again give him the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps they'll even start to book this clown!
