AOC up to £15m value now apparently. Well obviously not but any media hype like that is fine by me. You do wonder how Arsenal could attempt to poach from us any more than they already do...but this is to be more likely with our academy soon to be listed grade 1 and their's grade 2. I look forward to the day when we don't need to sell (we're almost, and some would argue already there) and our home-growns believe that they are better placed at SFC (when we get to the prem). When we're in the prem and stop selling our talent we'll be sorted
AOC is worth more to us than he is to a potential purchaser. As we don't want to sell, he is priced out of the market. Imagine that we are in the Premiership (pause whilst we enjoy that thought), would we pay 15 million for a young player with potential but not yet the full package? Most teams would only lay out that kind of money on a fully-developed player. Only a few top sides could pay that money for someone who may not get in their first team initially. Arsenal may soon be in the process of completely rebuilding their team...are they even still interested in Alex.
Just a thought..do you think that was why Alex's Dad was spouting off recently..trying to renew flagging interest!
If we were going to sell (which we're not) then I can understand his Dad speaking out and saying how Arsenal would be the favoured place for development. But he would go there and be a sub if lucky enough, and no more. However, having met the guy I know he is clever enough to know what is best for his future. He will be remaining a Saint. Next rumour please
No-one will pay £15m for him, especially if £10m+ is straight down. Unless you're Man City, that's the price of a very decent first team player. To spend that much on a kid, they'd have to devote a lot of scouting hours to him to check that he's the real deal. I believe Arsenal are looking to use their budget to bring some experience in as they look to win something. Hopefully we can price them out of the market.
We are kind of talking silly money are we not.......£15 million.......for a player who has not yet played outside league one. Who has yet to have a full 90 minutes at any international level..........Guys that has got to be silly money, a fully fledged goal machine will hardly rate that kind of money and that's in the premier!!!!!
Wouldnt mind Jimmy Bullard at St Marys, was on loan at Ipswich played only 17 games got player of season from fans. Injury prone yes but still wouldnt mind the character at St Marys.
Well that's reliable then... RLGB, don't post crap from sources without an ounce of credibility, please.
JDub. I never once claimed that it was from a 'source' It's just common sense Players and Management are on holiday and will return for pre-season at the beginning of July Yes, fixtures are announced this week but it is highly unlikely that any news regarding transfers/done deals will be announced before pre-season. It's all done in the dark now like with previous transfers and the ML and NC regime, and when Adkin's signed his contract extension early this year, however, it was only announced last month
Plus the transfer window doesn't open until 1st July, transfers can be done before but are not official club players until that date Eg. Phil Jones is still a registered Blackburn player until the window opens
Dickson signed in June last summer, so it won't necessarily all happen in July. Adkins probably signed on the line, but I'm sure Cortese didn't actually sign the extension in January, instead Cortese would have cited a contract extension as a bonus for getting promotion, which he achieved, and then Cortese signed it and released the news. Source: my opinion.
Transfer window the day after the last day of the season, so, playoff final. That will have been May 31 this year e.g. Jordan Henderson is a Liverpool player. He isn't registered as a Sunderland player, he isn't still under contract with Sunderland. The window is open, he has moved. Phil Jones is still technically a Blackburn player because they're just waiting for him to get back from U21 duty to sign the contract, just in case he snaps his leg in three or something.
Sorry to contribute to this incredibly boring debate but I think that domestic transfers are permitted now, and the international transfer window opens in July.
I doubt anything will happen before the beginning of July That is all I have stated, my belief is that it is unlikely It's an opinion... Everyone is entitled to one
