Jones finally being replaced?

Liverpool have taken a look at Dutch goalkeeper Kelle Roos.

The 21-year-old plays for Conference side Nuneaton Town who have put him and several other players up for sale.Bolton Wanderers and Ipswich Town have also taken a look while Everton, Crystal Palace, Sunderland and Cardiff City are also said to have been monitoring his progress.

Nuneaton boss Kevin Wilkin confirmed that Roos is attracting interest and is available for transfer. He said: "Kelle has trained with a few teams with a view to a move back into the full-time game."I've got no problem with it. He's kept his focus very well and been excellent for us."I've known all along he wanted to move to a big club."Roos has had spells with Dutch outfits PSV Eindhoven, Willem II Tilburg and NEC Nijmegen but a series of injuries curtailed his progress.

That could be good news. Never seen the keeper play, but he can't be worse than Jones surely. Whenever Jones plays for some reason it makes me feel like we have an outfield player in goal. We desperately need an upgrade, even teams like Stoke have 3 keepers better than Jones.

I hate to say it, as Jones has been through a hell of a lot (and I respect him for that), but that could be one of the main reasons we've kept hold of him.

jones is terrible at concentration, catching and kicking. he sets the entire back line panicking and we cannot play any mpassing game at the back with him in. He can stop a shot...

in short he is championship at best.

Sky is right he was through a lot and you give him your love for that....

however a kid at nuneaton? thats a bit of an ask to replace a senior keeper.

I personally think Jones is ok. Not great but ok. He is better than a lot of back up keepers we have had over the years.

name 3.

my memory goes back to mid 80s.

Mike Hooper - average but better than jones and even kick aball in anger after leaving us.

Brad Friedel - our best reserve as it were. nearly took no 1 jersey too.

Peggy Arphexad - god awful and had to have something on houllier. thats one

Chris Kirkland - good player, so injury prone.. ended up stuck at sheffield wednesday. way better than that if he'd ever got fit

Patrice Luzi - again love child. thats 2.

Paul Jones - had to be loaned in for one game. a long career but arphexad was that bad we needed to loan a guy in.

Scott Carson - good keeper better than jones.

charles Itandje - number 3... what a ****e.

Diego Cavalieri - not that bad, not good on the ground but was a solid keeper when he played.

all in all... jones is only worse than 3 guys who would never ever actually play and seemed to be brought in for absolutely no reason other than to please an agent or soemthing.

The other real reserve keepers were all better IMO than jones... but yeah only friedel proved he was up to it.

Liverpool transfer speculation today sees Reds boss Brendan Rodgers contemplating moves for various attacking options including Sevilla's Ivan Rakitic and Real Betis winger Alvaro Vadillo.

The Reds manager is keen to strengthen and Croatian midfielder Sevilla's Ivan Rakitic fits the bill hitting 10 goals and creating 12 more in 25 games.

Liverpool are among the clubs reportedly chasing England under-20 defender Jamaal Lascelles as his club Nootingham Forest seek to offer him a new deal.

Meanwhile, La Liga side Granada are reportedly in pole position to sign Liverpool defender Tiago Ilori on loan until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old centre-back has yet to figure for Brendan Rodgers' side despite his £7m move from Sporting Lisbon in the summer as Valencia also monitor the situation.

In wild transfer speculation, reports in France suggest Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint Germain are prepared to offer Liverpool a huge offer of £35m plus their choice of one of four player to bring their star striker Luis Suarez to the club at the end of the season.

The defending Ligue 1 champions are willing to offer Liverpool £35m and will throw either Ezequiel Lavezzi, Javier Pastore, Jeremy Menez or Adrien Rabiot into the mix to help tempt the club into parting with him.

Finally, Liverpool target Jorginho has been strongly linked with a move to Rafa Benitez's Napoli.
I'v never heard of Nootingham Forest...

thats'd be a good loan for ilori

rakitic is my choice it's not going to happen until summer and i think player wants to stay in spain... ie. real or some such.

PSG??? huge offer? 35mil plus one player... what a joke. they'd have to throw in 2 or even 3 of those players.

The rumour is £35mil and 4 players I think. Give them Suarez, then we will take Suarez, Cavani, Pastore, Thiago and £35mil :)

like pastore is 15-20 mil given their handling.. max. thats 35+15-20mil = pittance and arsenal could have bought him.

PSG can offer 85mil pounds like real or chuff right off.

Oh that's nowhere near our valuation they surely can't expect that to work? Suarez for £35mil and 4 players would be a fair trade though.

Wouldn't mind Lavezzi and Pastore.
Considering the top French tax rate, I'm certain Pere would tell Suarez to stay away from France anyway.
