I thought he did ok last year, when he played upfront for us in a make shift front line.

To be fair, he scored some important goals. He's not that sort of player who'll run around and harass opposition players, but he knew where to be, and how to score goals.

He was a a decent signing, that perked people up after a demoralising season, the year before, and a summer of clear outs and wage cutting. He delivered a healthy number of goals- even when he wasn't at his best.

I don't disagree with any of that. When he's played up front for us his goal record is pretty good, probably better than anyone else in the same period, although Gedo and Aluko might run him close.

It's his general play that really pisses me off. He can't cope with playing under pressure from defenders and anything less than an inch perfect pass isn't good enough for him. I could ignore his weakness in the tackle if he was good on the ball but he isn't any more, not in a league where defenders give you half a second to make your decision. Everything passes him by.

He played a massive part in us going up last season, but yer he's not up to the prem anymore and i think he will move on soon, so we can bring in a replacement in the summer.

Couldn't agree any more, it's a shame that so many of our fans still like to slag players rather than respect them but it will never change, some people are happier being negative twats

Totally agree. Some of our fans' attitude towards some of our best servants is nothing short of a disgrace. Koren has been the ultimate professional throughout his entire time with us and if you dont think he's good enough that's not a reason to abuse him. I would only ever give stick to someone who i thought didnt try and nobody could ever accuse Koren of that.

I agree that not being good enough isn't a reason for abuse, but not one has abused him have they? People are just pointing out he hasn't been good enough as you have also acknowledged.

I don't agree with your last line though, there's only Proschwitz who plays with less heart than Koren.

I agree with this^^^ If he has the opportunity to prolong his career then I wish him well. I think we should show our appreciation whenever he decides to move on.

I've always stuck up for Koren in the past, mainly because I thought some( a lot) of the criticism aimed at him was often unwarranted.

Consummate professional, pivotal in winning a fair few games for us and a fine example to the younger players.


My favourite player of the past few years.

That said I think it might be time to call it a day with us at the of the season.

Koren has always been the same. Half the games he plays are indifferent, the other half deadly effective, which is why he has the potential to be divisive amongst fans.

I haven't seen much this season to suggest otherwise tbh. He was certainly good enough vs fulham, though I accept he isn't the complete midfielder and never has been. On a good day however, he provides an influence which potentially equates to the difference between a loss and a draw or a draw and a win, and continues to do so.

Despite his fallibilities he is still potentially worth 3 or 4 points over a season, or the difference between a 1 goal lead and a 2 goal lead when coming under pressure in a specific match if used appropriately in a tactical sense.

The above evaluation has to be balanced by the fact he isn't getting any younger, his influence against the top sides in the division isn't going to amount to much and his contract is up at the end of the season.

For me, he could still play a role in the season, particularly when on the front foot against lower opposition when we need a breakthrough. I don't see him as a captain though, and if we can get a fee, sign livermore permanently and free up a loan spot, especially with Brady and Aluko coming back, then I'd have no problem with him moving on.

If we don't sign anyone either to play in the pocket or to allow returning stars to play there then I would probably be reticent to let him go just yet, in an ideal world.

I thought he actually started the season very well, before he got injured. And I seem to recall that was the general consensus of most on here.

He was excellent against Norwich. I doubt we'd have won that game without him.

Whilst I am in agreement with a majority of the replies on this thread, a move might be good for him. He has been a good servant to the team... and an MLS call would see his career out IMO. He has been a stalwart... a great Championship player, but his PL performances have been short of inspiring. I think he knows his limits, and EPL is a little beyond those limits. Whatever road he takes and whatever is in his future, we should ensure that he takes our best wishes with him... IF we should part company with him.

Oviedo in Italy was mentioned I think Ellewoods. Not sure MLS would be his cup of tea. He needs a more leisurely environment where he'd have time on the ball to show his quality. Wish him all the best...good bloke.

Yea I guess that is true he wouldnt have a lot of time on the ball. I was thinking more his ability to strike the ball from long range. A lot of the games I watch the teams seem to rely to much on shots from outside the box by midfielders. He would improve that aspect of their game. I dont have any stats to back that up, just my impression from the teams that the west coast teams play.
