Ipswich also win because they're the biggest club in their area of England.
Leicester just have a massive chip on their shoulder in the knowledge that they'll always be inferior to Forest. If you're looking for a proper historical midlands club Swords, with heritage and tradition- look no further than the 79/80 European champions.

<laugh> well done Grifter, Queenie could learn a trick or too! <laugh> ... so 'proper' heritage and tradition started in 1979/80 did it? <laugh> there was me thinking football had been around for over a 100 years before that ... but hey ho. Both Forest and Derby were very fortunate to have had, for me, the greatest club manager of the modern age (excepting Harry of course) that is easily conceded ... but take him out of the equation and there isn't that much between the 3 of us re fan base etc ... rather like you Charlton and Palace ...

Fair Play to Swords on starting this thread <applause>

If nothing else at least it has got different sets of fans talking and bantering with one another which generally only happens when there's a match day thread.

Oh and Swords if you want to create some real mayhem, Post a thread on the Norwich board comparing them with Colchester!

<ok> <laugh>

It's a great idea, but he's banned from the Budgie board! <laugh>

Ipswich have won the UEFa Cup and we've won countless Second Division titles along with League Cups plus experienced European competition, so I would say Ipswich and Leicester are both big clubs

So having weighed up all the info from the respondents, mainly made up of Leicester fans it must be said, its quite apparent that Ipswich would be the bigger Club. But that doesn't mean Leicester aren't a big Club too because with League Cups and European competition to their name, they ain't no small fry either.

Cheers for the honest assessment provided by everyone. Thanks for taking part. :emoticon-0150-hands

I have got nothing against Ipswich. Very simaliar sized clubs and this thread was a very poor fishing trip. Why try and turn Leicester fans against Ipswich for no reason

Ipswich fans on here are a very decent bunch

<doh> ... no it doesn't mean Ipswich are a 'bigger' club ... 'bigger' has not been defined here... more successful yes ... but Wigan and Wimbledon have both won FA cups in my lifetime; are they 'bigger' clubs than either ours or yours? ... if successful IS the right criteria for deciding 'bigger' then in terms of 'London' clubs you are now living in the shadow of Millwall and Wycombe Wanderers because they have at least reached an FA Cup final and semi respectively more recently than you ...

Think we have been here before with the 'who is bigger' debate hence the initial distrust. Each fan is going to believe and find facts to show their club is bigger than any other so ultimately a pointless exercise. Great thread though. For what it's worth I can remember the Ipswich sides of the late 70's and 80's and always enjoyed watching them.

You could also try comparing Hull to anyone and theres a few crazies there that will tell you their better <ok>

In regards to this whole debate, clubs that have european cups in the past will have a huge advantage, seeming the cost it now has in order to buy one of those trophies.

If you take inflation into account, the Forest team from that era probably won the trophy on todays championship wages!

In regards to Ipswich vs Leicester in recent times, Ipswich have held steady for a few years and are slowly improving, Leicester on the other hand have been something like this

Just posted asking why a a QPR fan was **** stirring but looking at the posts I was wrong - was quite a decent thread even with Grifter's schoolboy wumming.

Look mate, I'm only going on what the respondents have replied with, the majority of whom happen to be Leicester fans. I asked the initial question, with all the other criteria included - not just success (go back and look), in all innocence as I hadn't a clue as to the answer. The answer I got - from Leicester fans among others - is that Ipswich is a bigger Club. That's the question that was asked!

You guys answered it, not me!

<laugh> read back ... not one Leicester supporter said Ipswich are 'bigger' - indeed I don't think any Ipswich fan did either - yet all conceded that Ipswich had been more succesful ... comments which you have chosen to interpret as meaning Ipswich are a bigger club by virtue of pedantics <laugh> if that's your measurement on what makes one club bigger than another fine ... I'm now chuckling because your choice of measurement, with your one league cup win in your history, brackets you with Swindon Town and below Wimbledon and Wigan ... poetry <laugh>
