2 games premier league??? many?? without hardly any other playing time?

I don't believe signings will help us push up the league much this season. You only have to look at Newcastle last season & the start Spurs have made to know that signings take time to settle in. Some of the players we're linked with (Diego, Astori) I believe go out of contract at the end of the season. I think i'd rather get them them for free, than pay now.

If we are to make a sustainable push for Europe next season, what positions would be on your shopping list? (This assumes no key players leave)

I'd go for;

GK - Mid Twenties with good 1st team experience who would push Boruc
CB - !st Choice
CAM - 1st Choice
ST - Young (early 20s) perhaps from Championship

 

What happened to Banega? Is he getting much game time at Valencia?

 

Has only played 90 minutes once since the third of November... Not sure what's going on because I've not really followed this season at all.

Yeah, he wants to leave. Napoli went for him, but said Valencia wanted 20m euros, and Banega wanted 4.5m per year.

Plus the cup games against weaker opposition. He had a few good games last year, like Man City.

 

Euros? around £4m then. Roughly 75k a week.

 

In Italy they are probably talking about wages after tax, so you can add an extra wedge on top of that.

Yeah I saw that. What's interesting though is that apparently Parejo would cost half that (transfer and wages), which is actually kind of tempting.

Roberto Firmino. Apparently we have been scouting him.

Firmino has 8 goals and 6 assists in the Bundesliga this season. 22 years old.

If Banega wants £75k a week he won't be coming to Saints so move on and forget him

 

With Pochettino saying a firm get lost to other clubs, because players like Luke Shaw, Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert WON'T be leaving the club, this January, next season, or the season after blah, blah, the media might just be getting the message.
