Is this the first time that two teams currently in the top flight relegation zone have been in the League Cup SFs ?? No doubt there has regularly been one such team in the SFs in recent times. But I don't recall two (or more) .
Man Utd have been getting normal refereeing this season, as the refs aren't scared of Moyes like they were of Ferguson, but this seems strange to Utd fans. They're so used to getting the rub of the green that playing on a level field seems like bias against them.
Joey Barton has been his usual diplomatic self in a pretty accurate-looking summary of the Man Utd situation via Twitter: "Great win for 5under1and. Man Utd on the ropes at the minute. Feel sorry for Moyes. He inherited a dynasty in decline. Fergie is there again. Lurking in the shadows like the GrimReaper. I've got a feeling DM gets bullet and he emerges to save the day… What was the point of him retiring. He's at every game. Go on holiday. Play golf. Spend time with your family. Or friends Busy c*nt #fergie"
They're in danger of creating another Fergie if they don't ban him. That said a touchline ban might improve their fortunes
Ignoring the crap defence that was a really quality goal. Superb and very difficult long ball from Toure and whilst Negeredo could've just stuck out a leg and helped it in he timed the volley perfectly to smash the ball in the corner.
Negredo's really ****ing good, isn't he? Just before that West Ham fans were just singing "you're just a **** Nottingham Forest" at City. Embarrassing "support".
The glaring error with Negredo was actually not signing him last January when he was available. We couldn't have competed with City in the summer, but various teams decided not to sign him 12 months ago. Everton were linked with a £13m move, which was Sevilla's asking price, apparently. Poor decision not to follow through. 3-0. Toure.
This is starting to look bad for Big Sam. City haven't exactly been trying very hard but the defending is clueless and making it far too easy. I hope Sam's been told not to bother with this semi final and concetrate on the league, if not they look set for a beating that see him out of the door.
Lambs to the slaughter. Leyton Orient might still get to play at the Olympic Stadium in a couple of years, as the visitors!
