I prefer player-manager mode but they stopped doing that after 2012

I have fifa 12 now so i might stick with it and try the career mode as a player/manager. but do you end up old and retire after a while or what?
I had a really strange time as player/manager on FIFA 12. My player got so good for my club that some team made a massive offer for me, and the board overruled sold me without consulting me as a player or manager!

Tip for FIFA 14 manager mode... you can get Montoya for £3m in the first two windows. Douglas Costa for £6.5m and Marc Bartra for £3m. All quality.

The player-manager mode meant you was one of the individual players within the squad as well as the team manager. Best of both worlds. Now, you can only do one or the other. Player mode means you have no control over team affairs, you just play the games however the team is setup. Manager mode means you have full control so can pick players, formations, make transfers and play the matches still but you are not part of the player squad.

You trying to confuse me with some yank spin on Fifa
Ultimate Team is online. You buy and sell players, you earn money through playing games and winning tournaments etc (you don't have to win the league or cup to earn money though). You do need to earn money to pay player wages too.

Got Fifa 14 for xmas. Feels very different from 13 although haven't played it an awful lot yet.
Not sure what I think of the transfer searching yet... more realistic not being able to just get a list of the best players but also annoying if you quickly want to have a look for some decent young talent.

No good for lower league teams
Could try for Correa from Estudiantes (I think).
Yesil is always very good... Dongou from Barca B as well.
Januzaj is good as well... United will let you loan him or buy for £2m ish.
Your man Deli Ali goes from 54 to mid 70s too, so will grow quickly in a low rated team, will be PL quality within maybe 4-5 seasons. Turns into a Gerrard sort of player.

I also have Ibe on my bench. He is rated around 66 which is why he's on the bench but I play him quite a lot. Despite what his stats say, he is actually a very good finisher with both feet. Quick and able to play upfront or on either wing makes him a perfect impact sub.
I have a youth product called Hinks too, he's a DM/CM and is rated at 72. Rest are mid 60s

I bough Correa in January of my first season and he was already 74
... he's projected a minimum of 86 Dongou is fast as ****, impact player for a midrated team.
I got Will Hughes for Liverpool, but he grows so slowly as a cup/occasional bench player... Ward-Prowse is good too, maybe better actually.
Just love Sergi Roberto!
EDIT: Really hate how Ibe has 2-star skills. Makes him basically unusable for me.

Yep, Ibe is disappointing TBH. I bought him whilst in League Two so he got plenty of game time (on left) and got about 15 goals too. He doesn't get much of a look in now but no point in selling him because he's not worth much and I wouldn't be able to get anything better.
Just had a surprise though. The board signed a player without my consent. As soon as I saw this I thought "you batards". Went to the squad to have a look and he's a CB rated at 74 so actually improves my first team, can't complain

Highly recommend Mutaidi. Signed him in my Liverpool team and solid defensively but also got 4 goals in first 6 games for me as well. Doesn't have particularly good shooting skills but done well so far. Strong and high stamina so just what is missing in the Liverpool midfield at the moment
