He's more like a pacy RVP than Walcott. Tall, elegant, technically superb with the ability to do something spectacular with either foot(although he is left footed). My prediction is that IF we sign him. Wenger will move him into the middle (after a couple of Seasons). For me he's the best young German talent. Better than Goetze, Reus or Kroos although perhaps less consistent.
I hope this doesn't end like 2009 when we had the opportunity to strengthen our strike force and chose not to. Inevitably RVP and Eduardo picked up injuries and we didn't have the strength in depth to continue our early Season form.
Am I the only one not wanting Costa? Seems to be at the right place at the right time....not someone who runs by players, or dribble or bullys. I rather have Martinez form Porto who seems much more athletic than any other strikers we have been linked to...
Yeah I would prefer Martinez over Costa as well. But both are quality players and would add to our Squad. Costa is more of a poacher. He's very aggressive which makes him well suited to the EPL. Martinez is more athletic and powerful and has the ability to beat defenders. Also 49 goals in 64 games for Porto is pretty impressive.
Metro reporting that we have made an enquiry about Martinez http://metro.co.uk/2014/01/08/arsenal-lodge-jackson-martinez-enquiry-4254063/
I wish it was the other way around "The Gunners are lining up a move for the Columbian hitman, 27, in case they fail to secure a loan deal for Real Madridâs Alvaro Morata." So try to get Martinez and in case we cannot get him then go for Morata.
To be honest, it must be hard to dislodge these players during the January transfer window. I don't think any of these teams are willing to part with their prized assets, unless of course they are facing a financial gun barrel of woes. I don't think Porto or A Madrid are desperate. A summer move is more on the cards.
Newcastle will miss out on Loic Remy if they don’t make a bid soon, says QPR boss Harry Redknapp ‘I don’t know what the deal is,’ he said. ‘You would think they would want to snap him up wouldn’t you? If they don’t then someone else will. ‘For what we got him for, he’s probably worth double that now. He’s scored goals in the Premier League again this year.’ Looks like good ol Arry's at it again, wheeling and dealing as usual...
After the failure of some mid-level strikers from the continent lately, I am not certain that I feel comfortable singing their praises. We have a huge scouting network of professionals rating these players. If any of them was a certainty to be a success, and was available, I am sure we would snap them up. I would be very doubtful of any striker though that wasn't capable of playing in a similar way to Giroud and Bendtner. Despite all the talk off a plan B, and our success against Spurs, We are top with the current game plan and I don't think that January is the time to start experimenting with a new system, doubly so when the old one is working.
