I bet Chambo was the most disappointed person yesterday seeing Clyne have a great game, means he will be learning from the bench for a bit, at least that position is covered, now how about addressing cover for CB?
Oh dear. You're back. And with some of your most remarkable writing yet. Let's take the above. You dane to tell us what is wrong with rugby (another area in which I have no doubt you have such vast, incomparable knowledge) and with Jonny Wilkinson (widely regarded by 'the stupid people' as one of the all-time greats) - yet then tell us you've not seen much of Wilkinson. Now I'm no mathematician or studier of logic, but surely if you've not seen much of one of the sport's greatest players, firstly you've not seen much rugby, and secondly you're not in any position to make critical comment on that specific player. I'm delighted you've found that life in China that the rest of us so sorely lack. Please go back to it, you'll not be missed.
I think Rabbit is Vincent Tan. And if he's an egg-chaser, he knows little about the game. When a side is defending their try-line, they can give away a penalty for slowing down the ball from a tackle, not rolling away, going in from the side, not staying on their feet, and a whole host of other cynical tactics. The penalty is therefore awarded as a punishment for cynical play. The attacking side can, depending on the state of the game, decide to go for a penalty goal, or attempt to get a try, which carries a much higher score. Either way, they are not being cynical. I love both rugby codes, and if Rugby Union is being ruined, it is by the negative tactics I list above, mainly by Southern Hemisphere teams, and not by people kicking penalties.
Exactly that. They've always been good at the 'slowing the game' tactics, and it's become more and more prevalent. In fact anybody that's watched any rugby, particularly at international level, is aware of this as a practiced team tactic. It's the rugby equivalent of diving in football. But then, we all kinda know this. Well, all but wum.
You cant have a competition decided by who kicks straight, which a lot of competitions are heading towards. It makes a mockery of the sport. I will come back at the end of the season for a recap. Hopefully we will be able to talk about how good our january signings were and pochettinos successful transition away from antifootball.
When was the last time you tried to kick a ball in a straight line? Not as easy as you think, whether it is an egg or a sphere, Wot? not coming back until the end of the Season, hope you can keep a promise.
Oh so it's Pochettino now that's antifootball? Make your mind up. Strange when most other mortals see us as playing some of the most attractive football around. Enjoy your break. We will.
Pochettino is the veritable antithesis of antifootball. He can be pragmatic when he has to be, but his intention is always to play attractive football. I must have the wrong idea of what football is if Mauricio is the opposite.
I'd plead with my fellow posters to just stick to mockery and sarcasm. Trying to actually argue will get you nowhere. Let Prowsey do the arguing.
It won't belong before Chambers and Clyne are both in the starting line up, especially away from home.
While this criticism of Ward-Prowse is a little over the top, I do worry where he really fits in if he's gonna be a regular starter, I'm not sure his all round game is developed enough at the moment. Obviously his technique and set piece delivery is superb, but he really doesn't offer enough off the ball, and doesn't seem to have any natural attacking instincts. On the ball, I like him in central midfield, but he doesn't offer enough physical presence off it to warrant a place in the starting 11, and whenever I've seen him on the right he always seems to end up at RB behind an attacking fullback as he won't push on beyond slinging crosses in from deep. I really like Ward-Prowse, but I think he's got to add another string to his bow if he's gonna push on to realise his potential, because it seems he's stalling a little at the moment.
Stalling? This is his first real season for us, give the guy some slack. He is a youngster who has pushed his way into the first team, he's bound to be inconsistent he is still learning the game.
Ah yeah you're right, in terms of season to season he has come on leaps and bounds from last season, it's just at the moment he's struggling to get in a team with a lot of injuries and I'm just wondering why, despite his talent.
Strange that rabbit was referring to our antifootballers, were these not the same same players that were part of a team that were recieving such rave reviews for thier footballing style ?
He's just inconsistent is all as is Shaw and he's played far more games then Prowse. Both will improve once they adapt properly to first team football.
But the injuries aren't really to the midfield, where we're pretty richly stocked. He's had a couple of games that have been less than what he's showed us to date (as has Shaw). Let's not go over the top.
