By the way, the answer to the other question is Alex Villaplane. He captained France in the first World Cup and was shot on Dec 26 1944 for murder and other crimes whilst being a member of the French Gestapo during the occupation.

France for inciting racial hatred for allegedly likening Croatians to Nazis?
 
He did have a song about being locked up in prison, that had the lines, Oh, some of us'll end up, In St. Cloud prison. Not that recent though.
 
There was an article in the New York Times suggesting that it was time for him to retire. Seems he can no longer sing a song in the same way twice.
