I'll save you the misfortune of giving them a click, if you so wish...

Working towards - Despite their impressive start, a top half finish and the continued development of a fantastic crop of home-grown talent.

Overall effort - Newton’s Law of Gravity has applied - what goes up, must come down. But Saints have still over-achieved massively.

Manager - Mauricio Pochettino has banished the doubters and made Southampton a pleasure to watch.

    Head Boy - Adam Lallana

Bottom of the Class - Victor Wanyama

Must do better - Demonstrate the recentslump has been banished. Too many sloppy goals conceded in last six weeks.

Strange. I don't think Saints, when at full strength, are 'massively overachieving' in 9th.

Also the decision to list Wanyama as bottom of the class is absolutely insane. I don't understand.

I guess their opinion of Wanyama is based on some iffy recent performances and a high transfer fee. Not really bothered what the mirror say though.

Newton wrote three laws of motion; none of them were about gravity, or things going up and down.

Sorry but these things need correcting.

It's a horrible article, no justification of any opinion at all. Just a quick and easy page filler I am assuming.

The lack of basic scientific understanding in society appalls me too.

Just remembered, Newton's Law of Gravitation is the one which describes the attractive force between two masses...

Yeah, it still has nothing to do with our season performance.

What goes up must continue going up, unless an external force acts upon it. So basically the opposite of what they were trying to say.

Newton did actually say "what goes up must come down", but it's pretty clear the Mirror journo didn't do any more research than that.

Correction - He actually wrote four laws of motion, the forth being one's arse should be vigorously wiped with the afore mentioned Daily Mirror after completing ones read.

I wouldn't put Wanyama as bottom of the class, but he's certainly not as good as people make out. Worst player should have been Jos.

Agree that with our best 11 9th is not over achievement, but this seems to be a pretty common opinion.

Was watching Soccer Saturday yesterday and Jeff Stelling asked Tony Cottee if, after the win against Cardiff, Saints could go on a run and try and challenge top 6. His answer was no (which is fair enough, as I agree with him), but his reasons were that "this is Southampton, they had a good team in the 70s/80s but are not a top 6/8 top flight club, they should enjoy the incredible season they are having, and the good players they have there at the moment"

Yes I saw that and it was a wrong answer. He doesnt realise the depth of NC's vision and his drive to make us succeed.

He was right in the sense that we have fallen away and it will be hard to catch up more than the odd spot now...though I acknowledge that it is still December. However, talking about the distant past isn't relevant whether you were a midtable team or a title winner. On that basis, Blackburn has a greater chance than we do.

More difficult fixtures and poor team performance have cost us. He's not the difference between a win and a loss....

Not the whole diffrence but his physical presence makes a real impact. He was massive at OT and Anfield.
