half of the people chanting don't know the lyrics or lose time anyway, im pretty much bang centre of the Northam and sometimes you get a choice of 3 timings of a single chant. and not to mention every week we fail hard at oh when the saints. but the worst atm is 'we sign whittingham, we sign pochettino'.
saying that, i find it pretty hard to proper get in to the chanting mood after giving goals to the opponent, up til 3-2 we were pretty alright.
I've mentioned before that it's very hard to get an entire end of a ground singing a fastish paced song together as you have to cope with the speed of sound. By the time the sound has travelled from one side of the Northam to the other and the same beat has made its way back, it's likely to be out of kilter, which is a very effective way of stopping people singing. It's why you get the same song on three different timings. That's why the slow "When the Saints..." is so effective; the timing doesn't matter as much, so everyone can sing along. Similarly "You'll never walk alone" works well at Anfield, as it's slow.
As for the Whittingham Pottechino (sic) song, I hate, hate, hate it. Then again, I hate any song that mentions Portsmouth. We should sing about our own club. The obsession with Portsmouth is even more embarrassing at away games.
