No player is worth 70-80m in this market. One player going to one club for an over-inflated fee doesn't set the market rate for top players. The fact that all the other top european strikers have recently moved clubs for fees around 50-60m would suggest to me that is a far mroe reasonable expectation for a top striker than the one off stupid money deal for Bale which wont be repeated for years to come.

If Liverpool where not willing to agree to anything less than 80m then why the hell would Suarez sign the deal? He only had 2 years left on his contract come the end of the season and with what he thought was a 40m buy-out clause only we made a move for him. Has he really been convinced that he is so good that he can expect a stream of clubs willing to pay an 80m buyout clause? No chance. If Liverpool don't make CL football Suarez will want to leave, he won't expect any clubs to afford 80m for him, i just don't understand why anyone thinks he would sign a contract that meant unless a world record fee was paid for him he is stuck there CL football or not.....

Fair points, but Saurez is worth what someone is prepared to pay for him.
Chelsea pannicked a few years ago and paid £50m for Torres, there's no question Suarez is amongst the world best players right now so his value has to be in line with them, £70-80m is very realistic for me whether we believe he is worth it or not.....

I agree Suarez is amongst the best at the moment but i think your missing the point. Who is going to pay 80m for him? Madrid are the only team to have ever paid that sort of money for a player and having just done so can you really see them paying that again the following summer with FFP comming into force?

I agree he has to be valued in line with the other top strikers in the world but none of them are worth around the 80m mark. In summer some of the best strikers in the world moved teams and the transfers where all in the 50-60m region. In the last few years we have seen Falcao, Cavani, Ibramhimovic, RVP, Aguero, Torres, Neymar amongst others move clubs and none of them have cost anywhere near the 70-80m you are saying is a realistic transfer fee.

There is no chance that Suarez will have signed a contract that requires someone to pay 80m to get him if Liverpool don't make CL. If they don't make CL he wants to leave. At 80m there is a very small chance that any team will pay the clause and so highly unlikely he would get to move. At closer to the 60m mark he has far more chance of finding a new club and Liverpool would still get a huge fee for him. I just don't see why with only 2 years left on his contract he would sign a contract that makes his chance to move minimal when he obviously wants to make it easy for himself to leave if Liverpool don't make the CL.

You only have to look at liverpool to see what difference a top striker makes to a team. How many other title winning players do you see in their squad?

At least he can hit the target from 10 yards out, unlike some useless, abysmal, sack of ****e that we all know well, and yet some blindly refuse to criticise him.

You want us to challenge yet you're suggesting Ricky ****ing Lambert. Giroud should have scored that chance but don't go into hyperbole.

Look, even i could have at least hit the target, and i have the co-ordination of a goldfish. That's all i ask for, a striker who can hit the f*cking target, i used Lambert as an example because it demonstrates how poor le pomme de terre is.

Now instead of ranting and suggesting crap options actually suggest a feasible striker who could help us to the title.

Striker please, anyone will do. Even someone like Rickie Lambert, just as long as they're not a male model masquerading as a footballer, like our Potato

This reminds me of the time people we saying we should sign Diame and replace Wenger with Fat Sam.

West Ham's position in the league should give you an indication of what I think about suggestions like these.

Like I said before break the bank for Diego Costa. We have scouts watching him so it might happen. We surely have an extra 30 million somewhere.

Also got 3 FA Cups, 2 Community Shields, CL finalist, and other individual accolades. All under Wenger

Not to forget the 228 goals he scored making him our all time top scorer.

But of course Wenger couldn't get him playing at all .......
