I am sure you will have heard of him BB, but under a different name. Think he lives in Oz these days.

 

I think the real name of David Essex was David Cook. He was an ambassador for Voluntary Service Overseas for about 6 years. Is this getting close ?

 

Very close. Just need to know where he went to teach something.

 

Have to admit googling this bit. He gave a music and drama workshop to student teachers in Uganda.

 

Correct. He actually taught them how to put on Godspell and they took it on tour to rave reviews.

A few years ago I was privileged to attend this sporting event. It was called the 'Nationale Fierljep Manifestation'. Which sport was it, and where was I ?

 

It's a sort of pole jumping over water in Friesland.

 

That was too easy. It was the Dutch national canal leaping championships in Amersfoort. The sport is done both in Dutch Friesland and in the German part, called Pultstockspringen. Over to you N.Z.
