So many different candidates mentioned speaks for itself as to the all round performance. Very comforting to see chambers looking good. With Schneiderlin back soon alongside Cork, this makeshift unit are not as vulnerable as some of us first thought. Bring on Newcastle!
Lallana was magic today and played a real captains role and set the tempo for the come back in performance from the struggles of the 1st 15 minutes. Compare him to the disgraceful and whining James Milner and Roy has no decision this summer
It's so frustrating with Ramirez because he showed little glimpses of class, yet was a liability when he came on and kept losing players and having dodgy touches. The pressing style doesn't suit him and it's worth cashing in on him if he wants to play in Europe.
Sky gave motm award to Jay Rodriguez. Must say he's very impressive lately, he plays with very high confidence. His heading is also much improved, some tips from Rickie, maybe?
Well he did only come on in the 86th minute and got 8 minutes. Makes me wonder what Poch would say to him. Go and win the game..? please log in to view this image
Jack Cork for me. If Uncle Roy had been there he would have had to consider him on that performance...outstanding. Played Toure off the park!
I don't think anyone should be surprised by Corks display as he played like that last season. Against Villa until I heard of Victors injury afterwards I thought the change was tactical because our dominance in possession required someone more capable with the ball. I hope that Jack plays his way into a more active role within the squad once Victor returns as I think he was under-utilised for the early part of the season in an effort to get Schneidelin and Wanyama to gel.
Couldn't choose (and still can't) between Cork and Chambers. Thought Lovren and Fonte were very good too. And Shaw was vastly improved compared to Villa, offensively-wise.
I can't pick one outstanding performance from so many excellent ones, but Adam Lallana must be the fittest player in the Premier League. I kept waiting for him to tire but he just never did.
Considering he hasn't started a prem game this season, and he was up against Toure/Fernandinho, Cork was immense. Davis was also absolutely quality. Also, Chambers was excellent considering his relative lack of first team experience. Lovren though just kills me with his tackling. I've never seen anyone as good in the tackle as him. He is Saints best defender for the twenty years I've been watching them.
Cork was awesome. Lallana and Shaw did well too. Being hypercriticle of Osvaldo (and he did play well) he would have been MOTM but for missing the 2 other chances.
Everyone played well today, but for me the stand out performance was from Cork. He sprayed a lot of nice passes around, and very reliable in possession.
Was worried about this game with Spiderman and Wanyama missing but it was great to see Cork back doing what he is good at. Men of the match for me was Jack and Steve Davis, Steve reminds me of Nick Holmes, what ever role he is asked to do he does it , not outstanding but will never let you down. Difficult choice today as there were so many good performances, for a football fan a most entertaining match to watch (if you leave your red tinted glasses at home.)
MOM? Only one choice: Pochettino Today really impressed me. To have that many players missing and have the 'squad' all tuned-in to deliver a performance like that shows me what a manager we have. Superb.
Gazza: 7 (Loved the punch in the 2nd half!) Chambers 8 - Looked nervous at the start but was great after that Lovren 8 - Feared the worst when he went down Fonte 7 Shaw 8 Cork 9 Davis 8 JWP 7 Lallana 9 JRod 8 Oswaldo 8
