A couple of weeks back Rodgers said Borini is still in his future plans to, but needs match experience to build himself back up. Sundrland's bench is no good for that. I think his reason for not playing for Sunderland is not because he is not good enough. It think he doesnt fit in there system. He is a wide forward, best in a 433. No wide forwards in Sunderlands 442 or 4231.
Olympiakos admit they have a fight on their hands to keep hold of their star striker Konstantinos Mitroglou. The 25-year-old has had a stunning campaign with 14 goals in 10 league games whilst he has also claimed four hat-tricks in all competitions. It is claimed that Liverpool, along with Arsenal, have a major interest along with a host of clubs on the continent. Now his coach Jose Miguel Michel admits it will be tough to hang on to the 25-year-old. "We've known for some time that there has been interest from many clubs," he said. "But that's only logical considering how well he has been doing lately. "There have been no concrete proposals so far, but if he keeps on doing well, it's going to be hard to keep him." http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/9046552/
So, assuming we don't lose any key players, how would you guys feel if we bought in Mitroglou, M'Vila, Betrand in the Jan window? I for one, wouldn't be upset, esp. if we can get the likes of Sterling, Ibe, Ilori our to premiership/championship clubs on loan for the rest of the year..
i would assume you are expecting a hefty transfer budget for Jan. another possibility, if it arises is, if we can get a couple of good players and we dont have the funds, would users on here be happy if we dipped into the Summer budget?
That'd be lovely... Mitroglou seems like he could be a decent player, who would have to raise his game, but seems capable of doing so. M'Vila could come straight in. Would maybe prefer Fernando though, but M'Vila's situation in Russia is favourable to us. Bertrand is capable back-up, knows the league, home-grown, will improve - but is already reliable enough to play when needed. Much more meaningful competition for Jose than Aly has been so far.
I'd be made up. Personally I doubt very much we'll see 3 players come in during the window. However, if our owners are serious for a top 4 push I fear we'll need 3 to come in. I'd be reasonably happy if we signed 1 quality midfielder that would a regular starter.
I'd rather Micah Richards than Bertand, yes I am aware that Richards is a RB, but I think for the next couple of years Enrique is more than adequate at LB. Johnson on the other hand..
I'd rather have Johnson playing than Richards. Both could play though as GJ can switch to the left, and is usually quite effective there. I'm actually a fan of GJ - he makes the odd **** up, but most players do. I'm not really feeling these Bertrand rumours.
We wont get better than Johnson. He is title contender quality. I think with all fit we can build a top back 4. But we need to reinforce it.
I respectively disagree there mate! Last season I would of perhaps seen your point, but since the turn of the year he has really lost that edge he had when coming forward. I do think he is underrated as a defender, but let's be honest he's nearing his 30's now, and I do feel as if it is a slippery slope when you reach his age as a fullback.
Four hat-tricks? So if you take those games away his record is 2 in 6 in the greek.league? I'd rather look at it that he's scored in six of his ten games this season.
we'll see on morgan. its not a BAD move if you aim to step up. but equally he can go the way of eccelston. i do rather fancy he will do more but lets face it we think highly of a kid at the youth level and we see them vanish without trace as they elave us. only kaclinlic (spelling?) and ince have done anything and both were moved to allow spearing and ibe through.. thats a choice.
Don't think Morgan was going to make it with us. Was spoken about earlier in this or another thread but he lacks that bit of pace to really make a big impact at the top level. He'll be a decent Champ player at the best I think, another Mellor/Linfield. Big hype at Youth level but failed to progress any further.
I said the pace thing.... He could do something as he's got a decent goal to chance ratio but he's got to get the experience and harden up as a pro and prove it.
montoya has a lot to learn but who knows... if he's a bargain great. the point on johnson is a bit pointless really. nobody wants him and he's wages are too high. we will be running his down to a point where he is the wrong side of 30 nearly and offer him less money. As for ayre going to watch a player??? unlikely. who knows
After watching jonjo play against Valencia............... Why is Allen still at our club and not Jonjo? Still can be tempramental and look too lethargic but at least he looks to drive forward, looks to spray the ball, etc. Shame, not saying he would be a great but should have got more time probably.
