I'm not someone that's ever been accused of being in the know....about anything....but! My boss, recons he knows a football agent (and Boss' daughter worked for Fulham in some capacity) who has said the favourite for the managers job is Rafa! Apparently AVB has untill the Liverpool game to turn things around, otherwise he will go, with either Rafa joining immediately or there being a temp untill he comes in the summer. I would be very happy with Rafa as i've said in other posts.
Why on Earth would Rafa leave a permanent job at a club where he's doing well in order to take over as temporary manager with us? The timeframe seems about right but I find it hard to believe that there's any truth in it. Edit: Also I'd be furious if we got Rafa in.
He means as a perm manager, with maybe a temp until Rafa is available. Not Rafa as a temp. PS I'd also be furious if we got Rafa and only a league title will calm me down
Haha, yeh i'm not sure he'd take the title as an interim manager again! TBH i did debate the logic of the move, coming from Italy, doing well with a good chance of CL football next year. Why would you guys be furious? He has 2 league titles, and should have won a prem. Uefa cup, CL, super cup, Europa league, Fa cup wins? Literally the only thing AVB has going over other managers we have had recently (hoddle, Jol, Santini, Harry) is that he has won things, well Rafa has more and a good record in the prem to boot, with imo good football. Hell, he even got Chelsea playing good football AND winning, which even Jose can't do.
Rafa's lost his last couple of games with Napoli and they're on the verge of elimination from the Champions League. It would be enormously harsh for them to sack him though and he won't quit so soon into a new job. Can't see it.
If he keeps his mouth quiet and doesn't moan, like he did at Inter Milan, then he may last a wee while longer!
He could have at least waited a while to slag off the chairman and club, Redknapp would have told him that LOL
If we're going to draft in a manager as a temp, it should be a manager we wouldn;t have to pay a fat release clause to get hold of. Hiddink, for example, is available - and has shown he is a manager who can steady an unsturdy ship in the past.
He would be a good choice, just we now have the added Benefit or Negative of a DOF, Baldini would have to practically hire our next manager.
He does everything I thought people were complaining about with AVB. The football's dull, constantly rotates the squad, makes strange subs and gets questionable results. Personally I don't want him because of the unimaginative football, his recent record's not all that and he's always talking crap in the media. He's cracked up on several other occasions and lashed out like Keegan with the exact same consequences. We all laughed at him when halfway through the season he promised to finish top 4 and ended up 6th(?), he also ranted at Fergie before gifting him the title and complained about life at Inter whilst destroying the team that won the treble the season before.
Rafa wouldn't be top of my list but I'd have him over AVB. The man done great for Liverpool for the most part and hardly done badly in his short stint with Chelsea.
I could see you guys taking an interim manager and then picking up Klinsman after the World Cup - just please, 'ands off our 'Arry!!
