Guy Whittingham has gone - Portsmouth really are struggling to stay in the football league - I for one hope they stay - what's the point of a rival that is no rival?

and I believe David Conelly is temporarily in charge of coaching - best of luck mate

Clearly noobs at sacking people. They don't have a replacement lined up.

I must have it wrong but how can their fans think the likes of Holloway and Warnock are in the running when they haven't two penny's to rub together.

    Came across this on facebook:-

    Dear Sir/Madam,

I write to you in application of the current vacancy of first team manager at Portsmouth Football Club.

Admittedly this might appear on first glance a strange application given that I have no experience of managing a professional club. However I did successfully keep Plessey reserves in Isle of Wight combination One in the early 2000’s.

So why should you consider me a credible applicant you might ask?

Well, firstly I am always skint. Seriously, I’m terrible with money, so I have ample experience of surviving with none. You would be amazed what I can achieve with my last fiver before payday. This level of financial trickery sees me perfectly suited to the day to day rigours of managing a football club that has nothing.

Secondly I have delusions of grandeur. I often think I can achieve the impossible which means my level of ambition would be matched with that of your fanbase, no one will be more surprised than me when we lose. I guarantee promotion this season, it’s only League Two after all.

Thirdly, my neighbour is better than me. He has a bigger and nicer house, he is earning more money than me, he is more popular and when he has a party over twice the amount of people attend than do mine. This has always been the case with the exception of a brief spell between 2005-2011 when he hit hard times and I took a lot of loans to buy things I couldn’t afford. This has meant I have built up a severe level of bitterness and a huge inferiority complex.

Finally, I am a keen historian. Things that happened long before even my dad was born are way more important to me than the present day.

I look forward to hearing from you with a date for interview.

    Best Regards,

    Ali Dia (BSc, BA, WTFILN)

    Made me chuckle

I can't laugh at their misfortunes when I know how close we came to going out of existence.

And if anyone even begins to suggest they laughed at us, I don't indulge in tit for tat.

Like it or not most of the supporters have learned the Pochettino song and now they've ruined it by sacking the third line.

I haven't watched Pompey this season and have no idea how they've been performing, but I don't think they can expect too much better based on current resources

No, the media thought that. 90% of fans didn't. We just don't want to get relegated again and would rather not play like ****e every week.

I hadn't even thought of the biggest positive of this, the end of that stupid song :). They've still been getting decent crowds but even they admit the football is awful and it's a slippery slope. Most of the fans going now are very local, my road still having parking spaces on it on a Sat afternoon is testament to that! Hope they don't go down but continue to suffer!

Do they really need a full time manager? Couldn't supporters take it in turns?

Could be time to go back to the days of selecting teams via a committee. If you paid your £1000 to join the trust you should be allowed to select a team or take a coaching session for your money
