I have to say I watched the Cardiff v United game, and on the balance of play, Cardiff deserved their point, and maybe had a claim for all 3.
BUT....that doesn't change the fact that United were poor, partly due to Cardiffs willingness to close them down, and also partly due to just how **** they were on the day, but then when your missing the likes of RVP and Carrick, who at the moment are IMO 2 of United's better players, then that will always be a factor. I don't deny that Rooney should have been sent off, but as much as Cardiff hindered United's progress, you can't deny that United added to their own problems.
I mean you could also claim that they missed Vidic, but to be fair, bar the 2 goals, the United defence were not all that bad, well apart from Smalling who I thought was piss poor.
United lost the game in midfield, the same way we did against Cardiff, and I think that would have been different if they had Carrick on the pitch, they also created very few decent chances, which again I think would have been different if RVP had been on the pitch, and we know first hand at what that guy can do just being on the pitch, doesn't have to be involved, he don't half create space for others with his off the ball movements. They were so slow and lethargic in their build up play too,
But still Cardiff can only play what is in front of them, and they did play well. So credit were it is due, but even Cardiff fans would have to acknowledge that they played a Man Utd team missing some of their better players.
