Yes swans-m, we were very fortunate. <doh>

No one is denying the quality of RVP - he certainly tucked you lot up on that opening day. We must be a very lucky club eh?

Aussie - if that was bait rather than your true feelings, I'll eat my bloody hat....<laugh>

Any team that doesn't have to play against one of the best players in the world is imo fortunate.

Like I said, very fortunate in fact. Just like we were fortunate to beat Man City because Kompany was out. We're a real load of lucky buggers.

Well said. A bit of sense at last. They do say advocacy is the art of persuasion. :)

Am I? You know what they say swans-m, if you can't follow a discussion through, don't start one. <ok>

You were the one that said we were lucky that RVP wasn't playing and I agreed with you.

If you prefer to talk about us on one of your own match threads, expect a reply. <ok>

But we don't have to talk about you to 'expect a reply' do we? <laugh>

I have to say I watched the Cardiff v United game, and on the balance of play, Cardiff deserved their point, and maybe had a claim for all 3.

BUT....that doesn't change the fact that United were poor, partly due to Cardiffs willingness to close them down, and also partly due to just how **** they were on the day, but then when your missing the likes of RVP and Carrick, who at the moment are IMO 2 of United's better players, then that will always be a factor. I don't deny that Rooney should have been sent off, but as much as Cardiff hindered United's progress, you can't deny that United added to their own problems.

I mean you could also claim that they missed Vidic, but to be fair, bar the 2 goals, the United defence were not all that bad, well apart from Smalling who I thought was piss poor.

United lost the game in midfield, the same way we did against Cardiff, and I think that would have been different if they had Carrick on the pitch, they also created very few decent chances, which again I think would have been different if RVP had been on the pitch, and we know first hand at what that guy can do just being on the pitch, doesn't have to be involved, he don't half create space for others with his off the ball movements. They were so slow and lethargic in their build up play too,

But still Cardiff can only play what is in front of them, and they did play well. So credit were it is due, but even Cardiff fans would have to acknowledge that they played a Man Utd team missing some of their better players.

Totally agree with that. I've said earlier that Cardiff were good value and deserved their draw. Like you've said swanselona they maybe deserved more.

But it's fair comment that Man U looked like a different team than the one that played at the Liberty. Even then we dominated parts of the game and it was a world class player in RVP that did for us. Sadly he was missing yesterday. :)

Yup Aussie, as you say, very bad luck for you that RVP was out.

We may get even more luck, and Wenger will decide to rest Ramsey, Carzola and Ozil for such an easy fixture against us.

In the meantime, let's hope Navas, Aguero and Negredo get injured in training before next Sunday.......<laugh>

I am not so convinced that United played any better than at the Liberty. It really was the RvP show on the opening day, we had United under the cosh for long spells but on the day RvP was having one of his best games in his recent career.

It could have happened again if he played yesterday, despite Cardiff being worthy of 3pts that man RvP can still make the game end Cardiff 2 - 4 United. The man is that good. But the fact is he didn't play, Cardiff got the point and I suppose nothing else matters in regards to what could or couldn't have happened.

Well the way your luck is going Sparkey I'd expect Ozil to go down with the 'flu, Ramsey to have a dodgy curry the night before and Cazorla to twist an ankle getting out of bed. Really wouldn't surprise me. <grr>

Well I predicted that we would get a 2-1 win, and we did, and I also predicted that Cardiff just might get a draw, and they did, so events went as expected, but this coming weekend, could be very painful for both Welsh Clubs, will any of us get a result?

Good post ... I'd agree with all points made ... it's those 'fine lines' that define a season. United have struggled when RVP hasn't played or has been on the bench ... that is true (against Man City, West Brom and Cardiff).

But United don't always win necessarily when RVP plays and from a Cardiff perspective, I'd be focusing more on excellent home results against Man City, Man United, Everton and Swansea and only narrow defeats againt Tottenham and Newcastle (who are now a 'form' team). Maintaining that home form whilst picking up a few bonus wins away will mean survival. If Medel can keep his focus he looks an excellent signing - which I base more on how comfortable he looked for Chile playing out of position than anything else.

A fine weekend for Welsh football ...
