I loved the Championship, especially last year. The last one and a half seasons of our previous Premier League experience were almost as depressing as the early 90's, and should this season go pear shaped I don't think I will look back on any of it with fondness. Results are, obviously, the defining factor but so far our limitations have been masked by our current league position.
In the championship you are far more likely to get a useless twat of a referee and teams are more likely park the bus, foul at every opportunity, slow games down and waste time to an unpalatable degree from the first whistle and just turn what should be 90 minutes of thrilling excitement into such a mind numibgly dull bore fest you end up in the concourse watching sky sports news.
Maybe minus the bit about referees to some extent, the rest is a guarantee for 40 games plus any extra cup games under Pulis. I'd prefer the premier league without Pulis, but I'd take the championship without him over the premier league with him any day. I don't go to football games to be bored to death and watch my team unleash some kind of legal assault on the poor sods who are unfortunate to be playing us.

I think Pulis is really harshly thought of, Stoke were no better than us when we both went up, but they stayed up for 5 years never looking like going down (until this year under Hughes!) it all comes down to personal choice though, are fans willing to forgo pretty football for success? Some are some aren't. A lot of people were mega pissed when Pearson knacked off, but the football under him wasn't entirely inspiring.
Me personally, I'm more bothered about the result than the performance at the end of the day, and if he came to City kept us up year on year, and got us into Europe, I think i could get behind that, for a while at least, but then like Stoke fans, after a few years i think i'd be longing for something else, after all the grass is always greener isn't it

Really? Well if that's the case, why don't you watch Barcelona if you want to be entertained?
I've heard a few stoke fans on talk sport te last few weeks, they say although the results aren't exactly flooding in, they're much happier under Hughes as the quality of football isn't quite so dire.

Prem for me any day. Not only do I get to watch 80% of the games live on TV but we're playing quality teams every week with great players as opposed to Barnsley, Yeovil, and the likes. We can play real football and the refs get most of the decisions right. This is the best season and our best team/manager ever IMO after having watched a lot of dross over the past sixty five years. So I'm really enjoying it (even the Southampton) game!!
So am I, yet you suggest, that I miss the games because I like seeing us win?
OT but I really think history is being harsh to Pearson. For me we, without doubt, played some of the very best footall I have seen in 30 years of watching City under Pearson. Yes there were lots of incredibley dull times, particularly at the start as he 'steadied the ship' but in season 2 we played some exceptional stuff.
Seen a few comments from Stoke fans claiming they preferred it under Pulis. They said they didn't have a plan B, but at least the had a plan A.
If Bruce left and Pulis was put in charge, I think I may cry. His style is awful, I hated watching Stoke under him and I dread to see the Club I support play that boring, ugly style. Nobody liked boring football with Pearson, but at least Nige got 'em playing it on the Ground.

Agreed. It's incredible how things in football are forgotten to suit more convenient views later on. A bit like the Man City teamtalk starting our demise in 2008/09. As Candy alluded to above, NP's football as boring at times due to the uninspiring lack of attacking quality, but we did play it on the ground and created a hell of a lot of chances around that time and lacked a striker to really finish them.

If you go to watch City win, then you should prefer the Championship.
You don't, that's your choice. But this is more about some people prefering a bland game, as long as we win, some prefering a good game to watch where a win is a bonus, and others that enjoy a really good day out and City playing football's the excuse we use to do it.
Why not play in the conference then? We'd win every week? Personally, I wan't my club to play at the highest possible level.
