Long term isn't so easy to predict, too many variables and you cannot compare players until they have had time to shine. Plus they need to be in a team that is attack minded. Currently Cardiff isn't, will that change when Cornelius is fit to start a game? Who knows, only time will tell.
At the moment it looks like Bony of course but that can change. In fairness Cornelius has been injured almost form day 1. Carroll has been out for a while too though his overall return doesn't look great. However, after a season or so I still expect Bony to be up there as one of the best deals. Interesting stats.
It is interesting, especially as Bony hasn't really been clicking either. Role on him getting stuck right in with our team
For us RvW is injured. He had a bad toe, which has turned out to be 'turf toe'. It seems we may have played him while he had the injury, which now means we won't be with him for a while. Hooper has also been injured, but he does look promising and makes some good runs. Once we start playing to his strengths, I think he will prove to be good value.
Our near neighbours were quick to judge Bony. But that was probably based (at least partly) on them gleefuly thinking we'd bought a dud. Swamp and Sparkey were at the forefront I seem to recall, with the latter saying he'd rather have Much in his team any day. They weren't alone to be fair with some Swans fans joining in. But if you watched the Swans you could see the talent; his assists were noticeable, and he was always going to come good. The Eredivisie isn't a bad league at all and his scoring rate was excellent. At the moment it looks like we were right, but let's hope his improvment continues. But I also agree with Taff. It's a little early to make an assessment on the best value for money.
Cornelius is a fantastic player. He has all qualities to be a great striker for his club. But yes, he has been injured for the first minuts. Quite interesting to see that neither Kone or Odemwingie has done very well.
It's not easy Taff but you can weigh up the factors and say what you feel is most likely. Some more factors; Player.................Age.........Int. caps.....Goals.......Youth caps..........Goals........Nationality Andrea Cornelius......20...............7..............1................22...................6.............Denmark.. Cornelius has been unlucky but I like the look of him and expect him to come good when he gets a run of games. Better value than Bony? Obviously not right now but it's early days. Bony's figures are better than they look at first glance bearing in mind his sporadic appearances. His goal ratio per minutes played is actually quite impressive.
Odem has mainly played out wide. I wouldn't really include him with all the other name's up there who are all main strikers.
Terror, as of todays date the players listed would point to Bony to be the best return on investment thus far.
Dedspite his price tag, Bony looks great value on goals to cost ratio so far. Not sure of the quality of the defences he's faced in scoring them so far, but I don't believe they've been too hot (not trying to wum here at all). I know he only came on as sub against us, but didn't get a sniff against our guys. Time will indeed tell in exactly the same way as with our untried Cornelius. Another point though - not really fair to compare a £12M striker (Bony) with a £2M winger (Odem). I wouldn't expect them to be on the same level as goalscorers.
afternoon swansea fans, i hope you don't mind me commenting as it's an interesting thread So far bony is far ahead but others have pointed out injuries too, we have had that with Hooper and RvW. When RvW has played, his work-rate has been good and he has at least one assist so that is also a factor. cornelious and carroll have missed the whole season, and osvaldo appears to have not settled yet. also, what about danny graham - £4m, has he scored? Are you guys happy with Bony - i'd read, allbeit in the media, that some fans weren't happy with his PL performances. Does that carry any weight. i think it's worth bookmarking this come the end of the season and see who has been the best value. hope you win at craven cottage tomorrow to keep fulham below us
What that list also shows is how hard it is to sign a PL striker. A lot of money laid out by clubs for a pretty piss poor return up till now. It's a thread that will be interesting to revisit every 3 months or so to see how everyone is progressing. Right now Bony is obviously the stand out performer but that is as much a reflection of the terrible start the others have made through injury or poor form. In Odems defence he's either been out wide or played up front on his own. Neither option will bring the best from him. I think he'd like to play off of someone like Cornelius to see the best from him. Odem has scored twice this season (WH league cup and Newcastle PL), so there's a 100% improvement to his stats!
how can you make any comparisons, the players you mostly mention have been out injured.....and lets be honest no stats can predict the future. by the way is bony the only striker at your club>>>>havnt you got another we can see stats on???....... ps I didn't have no opinion on bony>>>>12mil is a lot but you expect some quality and he`s got that no doubts about that>>>>I`d say he`s a stone over weight mind...or at least he was when he played our boys.
canary don't talk about assist it doesn't fit in with the very selective stats terrors been working on for the last 2months
That's the point (sub). Had he started the game, Bony would have gone to work on your big centre backs from the off and he's strong enough and good enough to have won that battle. He wasn't too shabby when he did come on anyway. It's what we've been moaning about at the Liberty. Bony has had to play a bits and pieces role and still delivered goals and assists. We'll see his real ability when he's a regular starter.
"Odem has scored twice this season (WH league cup and Newcastle PL), so there's a 100% improvement to his stats"........steve don't spoil it for him mun terrors worked so hard on this stat thingy.
not our fault but your managers dude>>>are u saying daiswan is infact right and loudrop cant see the wood for the trees... ps im sure medel would have been worried by the physical if needed 2 pick up bony.....
