On such a fantastic day for this city it feels disappointing that the club, its supporters and heritage have taken another kick in the bollocks from Dr Allam. I appreciate he's done some great things but some people need to get their heads out of the sand and look at this situation for what it is - a farce. Like I have said previously, if people are going to first of all jump to who is proposing the change rather than the change itself as the main argument then are you supporting the name change or Dr Allam? He has done great things to get the club back on its feet but that should not cloud our judgement. Our peers in the top flight have managed fine with their traditional names. Swansea City, a club similar to ourselves, achieved European football through success on the field, not changing their name. Add to that the success of the big guns and the emergence of Southampton and West Brom this season then there is plenty pointing in favour to keeping the club name.

Dr Allam is perfectly entitled to call the club whatever he likes behind closed doors but that is no reason to enforce it on the rest of us and disregard our club's history and fanbase. His attitude in interviews has been disrespectful and full of contempt for anyone who dare disagree with his idea, and such narrow mindedness is not healthy. People never let Adam Pearson's work for the club get in the way of criticising him, so why the change of heart with Allam? The whole things stinks and is spoiling what should be an exciting time for our club.

They just come on here to wind people up. No sensible person can look at this situation and be happy with the way Allam is behaving. The key point always was and still is that there has been no research into if a name change would bring in more investment.
I just feel very angry and incredulous that this man is so twisted that on the day this City has hit the headlines and when we should all be proud and pulling together he still comes out with statements goading the supporters, the people that actually put money into the club, his customers, where is the sense in that. This City will be globally recognised which is so ironic as he has told us City has to be dropped to get us recognised. Any normal business man would be jumping for joy with a team called Hull City getting free publicity all over the world because of the City of Culture announcement. He just seems to have hit the self destruct button. I just don't bother reading the posts of the trolls on here because they really have nothing sensible to say.

You really couldn't make it up!

There must be people up and down the country shaking their heads in disbelief. Only in Hull could one of the proudest days in the City's history be hijacked by someone purporting to have the best interests of the City and it's people at heart.

Can I just remind people that the timing of this communication was a direct response to a very public open communication by the campaign group.
This would not have come out today if not prompted.

The campaign made a perfectly reasonable and good-natured request.

The club responded with a snappy and downright rude statement swiping at the campaign and also trying, in vain thankfully, to misrepresent them in the hope of knocking their support.

I've lost faith in our leadership and am totally disenfranchised by the communications coming out of the club which seem forced and are clearly at the will or Allam.

How much further does he have to go before enough is enough? If we aren't big enough to sustain premier league football without a chairman in charge acting against the will of the fans, then get my back in the Championship and give the reins to someone else because we are selling out the long term heritage and direction of the club for a flash in the top flight.

Surely you're not changing the subject yet again when your point turns out to be nothing more than hot air?

You know and I know what you are doing. The spy function is very useful to watch.

You are a disgrace as a mod. At some point, this mud will stick and the site moderators will see you for what you are.

The move to American style names will be historic move for the FA in its 150th year. Its not just about little old Hull City becoming Hull Tigers. Its also about the soul of British football.

Surely MK Dons are the first Americanised name?

Completely independently of the having to change the name due to the change of location they chose to include the nickname in the new name.

That's what I said. Do Manchester United, Manchester City, Everton, Liverpool, Everton, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur think they'll make more money with fancy sounding US names or by keeping traditional English ones?

If the latter they'll stop the likes of Hull City and Cardiff City changing their names. The big increase in money this season has come from BT, what's their attitude to Manchester City becoming Manchester Hunter?

Money talks and whilst we have more than Leeds united we are nowhere near the wealth of Arsenal and Manchester United. We are a medium sized fish in a big pond. As I said we'll see after April.

If they think their traditional names will make them more money, why would they want to stop a competitor from changing their name? That'd be like Apple announcing they were stopping making ipads and Samsung talking them out of it.

Yeah, and we should give all tigers a vote too.

Don't do that, rumour has it this happened because he got annoyed at her not understanding how important Millwall's name is.

I'm recommending that noboby stays away, as are CTWD, it's a ridiculous proposition.

If you are saying it's ridiculous to stay away, then no, it's not. Remove your support, remove your commercial patronage. Show him you are not toothless tigers by publishing the full and absolute minutes of the meeting; anyone who may suffer some harm has already been spoken about in a room full of disparate campaigners - if AA initiated that, then he must mitigate it. This pompous fool has taken the high ground throughout, his rants are of no consequence to him or the outcome. The weak nature of your actions since the meeting have only served to feed his arrogance. The campaign has said too much and been seen to do very little. I am against the name-change, I support the campaign, even though I consider it futile, but it has been allowed to drift when it needed direction - now the club (that's who it is) has come around your bows with a very predictable salvo which should have been neutalised by more positive action by the campaign group and that needed the minutes to be published immediately. If you attend the game you will feed the monster, so good luck with that one. :emoticon-0149-no:

I see Steve Brady as the big winner today.

Despite being a very poor communicator, a charmless knuckledragger and a Labour dinosaur of the type that have throttled the commercial life out of our great city in the last 40 years or so, he has come up a winner and smelling of roses.

He has allowed AA to steal his thunder as the most clueless inept communicator and gaffe-prone bungler.

Just seen Brady on ITV news with Rageh Omar and for once he wasn't heckling and grunting over his interviewer. Maybe he's been coached?

So despite being the king turd in our **** council, he's a winner enjoying an almost unprecedented positive day in the national spotlight....

Contrast that with our owner attacking our loyal fanbase with his spiteful blackmail games of 'My name or **** off' .

Might I remind you Mr Allam of my funding of the company you currently own for the last five decades, decades in which you were nowhere to be seen and you'd never even heard of Hull City?

That was ongoing funding when the 'successful businessmen' wouldn't be seen dead at Hull City or anywhere near them. Funding when it mattered- keeping Hull City alive for future fans and generations, like our parents and grandparents had done for us.

Me and the few thousand like me from the dark decades are not your employees, and we are in it for the long haul, not just the Premier League years. We'll be here when you've gone, and I guarantee that if you ever succeed in changing our 109 year old name as part of your petty spat with Terry Geraghty, it will revert back to Hull City AFC the day after you leave.

Time to put up or shut up now. As others have said, Dr Allam has called your bluff.

How has he?

While the club are still Hull City AFC (which they are) I will attend. This is in no way me showing my support to the deluded ****er and his petulant plans.

If he gets his own way and the name change actually goes ahead then I will no longer attend.

-----------

Did you stop going to watch Hull FC when they became Hull Sharks ?

Do you still go to fc even though they clised down and became Gateshead.

????

so the protest group will not get refunds and remain the "200" minority ..

convince a stand to give up their passes .,. convince them to walk away .. that's his play

if you cant do that then rename it "City when he dies" as its game over

I actually admire the way he has treat you and played with the CTWD with contempt that you deserve , you own nothing of the club .. if you want a say .. put money where the mouth is ... you cant so you need to respect who the boss is ,, that's Assam ... no option

there is no other way out .. as the FA do not stipulate season pass holders or a majority of fans or anything ( ring them and check)

it is down to a board of 5 people to decide .. that's all ..

*by the way the "season pass holders" thing was something I said a while ago and now its gospel ..

to quote aliens "its game over man .. game over"

You sound more desperate by the post. <laugh>

Ring them back, and instead of asking if it needs to be pass holders, ask them if there needs to be consultation. The pass holder referendum was simply one option for consultation. The fact Mr Allam ran away from it and tried his nonsensical obfuscation says a lot.

I have already said it, it's simple...

If Allam is so confident that 98% of people support the change, then why is he seemingly so scared to do a poll on it? Why not just 'prove' his claims?

The answer is obvious.

consultation was done "whether the CTWD group like it or not" .. they walked into the trap and have sealed the deal .. if you disagree then ring and ask ... why should I ring , I don't care either way and will still watch 11 vs 11 on a pitch .. although the attitude of the protesters is turning me more towards supporting the name change than not .. aside from a couple of well spoken and objective people the rest is purely aggressive rants which to be fair if you don't go to games you will be well rid of .. sorry to say but your 20 years too late
