England v Chile and Germany match thread

I really don't see what the point is in playing the same old ****, particularly in friendlies. You know what they are about, they've played countless games for England in friendlies, at the Euro's and World cups. They failed to produce when they were at their peak, and now they are not only on the decline, but so far down the decline that they're close to dropping off the edge...and yet they still get chosen. What is the point. So weak and short sighted. I don't even know why I'm getting wound up by England. Probably because our lads are on the periphery now, in contention, and yet seem to only be there to be an excuse for when everything goes wrong. I hope England get destroyed by Germany (if none of our lads are on the pitch).
 
After all the blame on our players, I'm quite hoping England get absolutely torn to shreds by the Krauts on Tuesday. And none of our players play, of course.
 
Are they all blaming our players? Most seem to think Lallana did okay and someone on Sky said that new players, such as Jrod, should be given a second chance as no one should be judged on one performance. No one in the England squad came out with much glory. As someone on this thread said, watching Chile was like watching Southampton.

Was surprised when J Rod got called up and think he is not up to that level as yet. He needs to be able to effect games more instead of relying on the others to put him in situations.
Adam played well, wanted the ball. Got himself all over the pitch. Tracked back and put in some strong challenges. Offered options and made good runs when Rooney had the ball. For me I reckon he has done enough for another sub appearance Tuesday.
Who he would be able to replace from the current squad would be the debate as Townsend is flavour of the month and then Walcott & Chamberlain are to come back.
 
I think considering Roy's lack of tactics against a decent team playing the high press and that almost all the experienced players failed to show up that Adam should be pleased with his performance.
JRod was under pressure with Baines failing to deal with their attack and not getting forward to support him when going forward. I hope he gets another shot at it

I hope not as my mate has just called me up for a spot in his company box on a freebie for Tuesday's game. This will be only the second time I've seen an England game 'live' and my first at Wembley.

I gathered some of the media reports, mainly about Lallana. Everyone agrees Jay was anonymuos.

Only Daily Mail really couldn't be more wrong (that is, about Lallana).

Lallana was arguably one of England's brighter attackers, drawing saves from Claudio Bravo and seeing another low shot deflected wide of the far post after neat approach play. He was energetic and industrious and, while occasionally jittery, did not look out of place, particularly in tandem with Wayne Rooney when opportunities arose.

Lallana, on the other hand, demonstrated that he is worthy of Hodgson's further attention. He was confident enough to take responsibility for an early free-kick that almost resulted in a goal for Phil Jones and he may feel he should have scored with a chance just before half-time.
One dreadful corner apart, with Leighton Baines lowering that set-piece standard even further in the second half with an England corner that set Chile clear on the attack, Lallana was always keen for the ball, showed no nerves and also displayed plenty of energy, especially when he chased back in the second half to bail out his defence.

Impressive and effective debut. Didn’t set the world alight, but used the ball well, dribbled and provided a good threat.

It is too early for them to forget about Rio next summer, but there is a feeling they have too much to do. Lallana and Rodriguez never got going.
 
Looks like the Germans will rest alot of key players to give fringe players a go at a crap England team. Hoping Ozil was going to pickup a slight knock
 
As Roy and the Germans are resting the Arsenal players our lads are going to get the full 90 minutes. The conspiracy has succeeded. The Sky Cartel has won again. Rickie, Adam and Jay will be returning on crutches not only physically bruised but also with their morale sapped by a huge barrage of unfounded and ignorant newspaper criticism. Remember must journalists live in North London so we know where their loyalties lie.

Look what playing for that idiot Psycho Stuart Pearce with the England's U21 s did for Nathaniel Klyne. It took over a month for us to get his body and mind back in order again.

Who needs England. FFS Playing for England will not improve our players it will take them backwards.

Adam and Jay are too nice for England while the school of hard knocks has made Rickie tough enough to handle it all.

But we can change this when 90% of the England squad are Saints :)
