Scotland succeeded in the Championship, Trundle didn't So as can be seen here, range of skills mean very little if you haven't the capability of doing it at higher levels But thats not to say Trundle wasn't a fantastic player for us at the time

At least someone gets it. Doing tricks like a performing seal against lower league cloggers might impress some, but top level players should be capable of more. Trundle never was, which is why no top flight manager ever wanted him. Only one Championship manager ever wanted him, and look how that turned out. £1m of Bristol City's money down the toilet.
Trundle IMO was the most entertaining player we've had since I have been following the swans .And made going to watch our team an even greater pleasure than it normally was . Maybe he wouldn't have cut it as a prem player in our set up at his best we'll never know for sure ,but he was a great team player that lifted the others and could produce a bit of magic out of nowhere just like Michu does . Bony has the tools to become an even better striker for us, hopefully his quality will show even more as he gets more game time over the coming months.
Unlike Trundle, Bony seems to lack a bit of personality though. Not that it matters really, but he always seems a bit miserable and I've yet to see him properly celebrate a goal. May be this would endear him to fans a bit more. I'm honestly not criticising him because I'm sure he will be great for us but it's just an observation.
You dismiss Trundle with a great deal of contempt,Lone,shame on you for that. I wonder if your disdain for him ever surfaced during the period when he was scoring for fun,and putting The Swans' on the map,albeit against "lower league cloggers". I'm sure you were in raptures at the time,but now seem to have forgotten where you came from.
"Personality" is the key word,Knackered. Trundle has it in spades,but Bony certainly seems to lack it. I don't dismiss him for that though,people are different. In time he will blossom here,and then we will see a different,more confident,Bony. It's a real joy to see any Trundle interview. He's really enjoying himself in his new role with The Swans',and is a Jack,through and through.
I agree Vetch. Maybe Bony is just the quiet type. Scotland was similar wasn't he? I'm sure most of us couldn't care less if he does a job for us. Just wish he'd bloody smile!!
I think Bony is trying live up to his price tag and he knows when he's cocks up gilt edged chances it's another chip away at his confidence , human nature as it is I suspect once his goal tally mounts up we'll see the real Wilfred.
I think you are right,Matthew,that price tag MUST be weighing heavy on his shoulders. Still,there's plenty of shoulder to carry the load.
Silly money for one player imo, We have jumped 3-4 seasons on what we should be paying and that is the wrong road to go down and fully agree with huw in his spat with laudrup on what we should be paying for one player...Never mind its too late now so we can only hope we get our money's worth as each goal is costing us a fortune at the moment..
How by scoring goals does that cost us money , we win by scoring more than the opposition , we stay up because we win more games by scoring goals , by scoring goals we receive more money ,
So his first goal cost us £12m.....interesting, that means that the following 9 goals were free Bargain
10 goals in 18 games in a much harder league = Well on his way to justifying his price tag. Could have been worse Dai, we could have had Soldado or Negredo

Lee Trundle would have done well in the Premiership in my view, had he not come into the Pro game so late in life. Trundle was a terrific goal scorer, and his 78 goals in 146 appearances for us, was something any footballer would be proud of. His only mistake was going to Bristol, maybe being the wrong side of 30 in 2007, he felt perhaps it was his only chance at the big time, but playing him out of position the way Bristol did, was not going to help his cause. Comparing him with Scotland is unfair to both players, as they are both completely different types of Striker, but if Trundle could have got into the Pro game at a younger age, I'm sure he would have hacked it in both the Championship and the Prem, he lost 3 seasons at Bristol at a time when age was not on his side, and it was criminal that we had to watch Pantstado huff and puff under Sousa, with Lee sat on the bench! I have every respect for Lee, and my boy and I let him know every time we bump into him....................
