Agree with kj. Its almost impossible to say who is better as individually they brought something different to our game and have played at different levels.

A player with Trundles ability but playing at PL level , how much would he be worth I wonder ?.. great players as he and Jason were it was step too far but give them credit for being very good at the level they achieved.
that's the point you cannot say it was a step to far as we were not in the premiership while they were with us. I would put money on it that if we were in the premiership and trundle was in his prime he would be the best out of all the strikers we have had in the last 15 years. He never came in to football until he was in the mid twenties and what he achieved in a short time was phenomenal, We have never had a striker of his skill and ball control since. I have no doubt at all if we were in the premiership when trundle was in his prime he would give any of the top strikers a run for their money...unfortunately it was the wrong era for him....He single handedly put bums on seats that wanted to see this player who had something special that other strikers didn't have...
Trundle failed in the Championship. The idea that he "would give any of the top strikers a run for their money" in the Premier League will give me something to chuckle about for weeks. Jason Scotland made him look ordinary, and he was no top flight player either.
trundle never failed with us, he never shone at bristol city there is a big difference that he has explained. trundle is the best striker who ever put on a swans shirt in the last 15 years. Wrong time wrong era with us but thank god we had him for a while as we got noticed because of him. He is even doing a fantastic job today for us...
He failed at Bristol City. He failed when he came back. Graham, Scotland and Bony are all inarguably superior players. Even the likes of Luke Moore and Leroy Lita had better records at both Championship and Premier League level.
Ah but your missing a huge point there Vetch, Bony's goals in the grand scheme of things are worth more to us as a club that the likes of Trundle, just think what Premier League survival earns us
So if you were to take into account that, then you could say he may well be more value for money
Although you could argue that Trunds goals were more valuable as it kick started the huge turnaround to the Premiership. If we were to go by most popular striker then of course in my opinion, Trunds wins hands down for me along with Scotland second as he took over from Trundle in the higher divisions. However if we talk in terms of skill and quality, then Bony is head and shoulders above them as he is doing it at the very highest level
Which is why it was a very shrewd decision to bring him in to work with the youngsters

Scotland was a poacher. Trundle on the other hand was imo more of a creator. You can't compare the two, but at premier league level they would fail.

If leon can come through the divisions and if trundle was younger then he would have taken the premiership by storm..Like i said sadly it was the wrong era and time for trunds, So we will never know now and just comparing leon, monk and tate who have played in the premiership then trunds in his prime with us would have no problem...
Like you say Dai, just a shame we can't go back in time and pluck out a 23 year old Trunds to play with today's players to see if would have made it in his prime.
Yes, because it suits their argument, people conveniently forget about the goals Trundle laid on for others. And there were quite a few of them. I loved it when he took the ball to the bye line, left defenders for dead in no space at all then crossed for someone to score.
Scotland was a different animal. He was a very good goal scorer indeed but selfish, a poacher who created very little for others. Not much between them as goalscorers but Trunds wins hands down for me because his assists were waaaaaay ahead of what Scotland managed.
It's a pointless exercise to compare strikers who played at different levels and you also have to compare the calibre of their team mates. It can make a difference.....

Trundle was one special player who had it all, He would play to the crowd young and old and sent us home happy, That man would play football at 3pm and by 7pm he wa visiting some kid in hospital because he was asked too by someone...nothing was too much trouble for him and now he is back he is doing it again...a top bloke who loves the swans...
Agree 100% Ivor. They both had their qualities in different ways. It would have been nice to have them both at the same time, but we didn't.
I have to say the better player for me is Bony. Its all good saying that Trundle and Scotland were better players because they scored more at the level they were playing in, but for me, the better of the lot is the one able to play in the better league.
Is the Premier League better than division 1 in terms of opposition talent? Is it better than the Championship? Well you would have to say yes. So the players that Bony is up against, is far superior to the likes that Scotland and Trundle had to face. So you have to consider that when discussing who is the better player.
So for me, there is no competition, Bony is hands down our best Striker of recent years. Is he the most iconic of those players, no, Trundle would take that accolade.
Also for me, Graham was our second best striker, he was effective at Championship level, and scored goals in the Premier league for us, important goals for us too. Then would be Scotland, as he did his bit in the Cahmpionship, along as league 1, where as Trundle made it to league 1 with us, and not the Championship.
